Chapter 105

Luna’s pov

“Where the hell is he” I muttered under my breath
You can feel it, building like an unstoppable snowball in the pit of your stomach. I cannot concentrate on anything else that I’m doing. The next step is my heart starting to beat harder and faster, adrenaline levels rise, my arms try and crawl up inside my body and my brain starts to fire out negative thoughts like a machine gun.
“Luna? You okay sweetheart?” A voice said, but I couldn’t move an inch
I stood there frozen, my eyes still piercing into the empty kitchen where he should have been. It was too much to focus on
“Luna?” My father asked again
I could tell that everyone was standing behind him except for Cytheria who was still in my room where I told her to stay
My brows seemed to stitch together with my body still paralyzed in realization
As sweat starts to happen all over the body. It felt like my skin had another hot skin on the outside, like a bin bag, it moved over my body and never released. The negative thoughts keep coming like waves on rocks.
Mark was a healer. Although he didn’t have demon blood running in his veins, he still managed to have almost the same powers as I had. Which could only mean a few things. He was going to reverse what I’ve done to my mother or he was here to finish the job.
Raising hell in hell.
In my mind, I was pacing or moving around irrationally. The arguments in my head get so fast and so disturbing that my brain wanted to shut down my body. The sweat had completely covered my body and my heart feels like it’s going to explode
For if Mark wasn’t in this kitchen, then he was already with his wife.
That’s when the real panic came, my heart sunk into my chest as my neck snapped in the direction of my father who had a confused look on his face
“He’s back” I said breathlessly
Lucifer’s crossed arms fell to the side of his body as his eyes met mine, immediately knowing exactly who I was talking about
“Who- who’s back?” Dreama asked
Lucifer’s jaw clenched and grinded against each other as his head bowed to the ground
“Vernon, you need to get them out of here” I said sternly
“I’m not leaving you alone here. Not again Luna” She hissed
“Can someone please tell me what’s going on? And where the hell is Cole?” Ryan asked
The crushing pain in my chest returned upon hearing Cole’s name. He was missing from the group
“Can someone please expl-”
“You all need to leave” Lucifer said
“Where? I don’t understan-”
“Nathan. Take them far away from here. And go get Cytheria” I said
The blonde girl nodded, understanding exactly what was going on. The silence between us felt heavy, Lucifer’s fists clenched tightly as he started to walk towards me
“I’m coming” Fawn said
“And I’m coming too” Vernon spat
“I don’t want anything happening to you two” I said sternly
“We don’t care. You’re not going through this again Luna, you have us” Vernon said
“He’s my father, he tried to kill me. There’s no way I’m backing down from this” Fawn spat
“Huh? Fawn’s dad is here?” Leo asked
“For fuck sakes Nathan. Go get Cytheria and get them out of here!” I yelled
The blonde shivered and nodded, gripping their arms like chidlren and tugging them all in the direction away from us
Lucifer’s eyes flickered black, the split in his back allowed the dark red wings to emerge from his skin, suckling to the bee air and rising his into the air.
“Does Cytheria know?” Vernon asked, my jaw clenched tightly as I turned to face down the hallway
“She’ll be okay” I whispered
“Wait what. Cytheria doesn’t know there’s a fucking mad angel on the lose and he’s after your mother!?”
“As I said. She’ll be okay” I gritted through my teeth, my feet finding its way down the hallway with my father by my side
Nostalgia. It was a feeling most would embrace, those few seconds of being in a trance. A memory flooding your senses and bringing you back to a time in your past, unfortunately this wasn’t the sweet past I’d like to embrace
The all so familiar feeling filled the pit of my stomach. My feet hurried down the halls
Like a horror movie it played again in my mind as if somehow my brain was unwilling to let the images go and in it’s attempt to analyse them it made me see it all over again.
The flashbacks of guards being tossed into the wall, their broken bones collided with the bricks and flattened to the floor.
I knew the more I tried to suppress it the more it would play again, but I couldn’t help it, walking down the same hallway where it had all went south. The time when I had lost myself and everything I had within me.
But this time, I wasn’t saving my father. He was right beside me, his fingers intertwined with mine as his jet black eyes glanced in my direction.
Cole was down there, and I’m going to make that man regret even thinking about touching my friend’s skin.
Cytheria surely wouldn’t forgive me if she had found out what was happening but she needed to be far away from here as possible. Knowing her stubbornness, she’d sight Nathan just to run down here herself to get herself killed.
My heart broke just at the thought, she’d sacrifice herself just to be with me in the final moments.
Despite having Fawn, Vernon and the devil himself by my side to go into battle, there was always a possibility of something going wrong. But it was Cole down there and the woman who wants to overthrow everything around her.
Blood will be shed. And I’d be damned if I let this end with Cole’s life on the line.
My feet continued my oath towards the chambers, My feet echoed through the halls, my suspicions raised. It was far too quite, just as it was back then.
My hands ran along the cold brick walls as I snuck into the basement, Lucifer stayed behind me with his light footsteps, my hands quickly found the metal door and gave the knob a quick spin.
Here goes nothing.
My wings rose to the air and the darkness in my eyes filled each corner, my veins continued to burn white in my veins, showing through my own skin.
Vernon’s black wings emerged from her back and Fawn’s white wings pulled out with her silver eyes glowing. Her curly hair fell over her face and her jaw shut tightly. I felt Vernon’s hands on my shoulder as she nodded
The door unlocked, a soft hissing released from the compressed heat with inside the basement. It was obvious that something else was going on under there
I’m sure with the time wasted, the man had given his wife her life back.
Soft droplets of water could be heard throughout the room, it was pitch black, my eyes glanced around as they strained to see anything. Everything was just so silent. I grew even more nervous, but the fuel of rage filled me more.
My hands aimed at the door and a force had pushed it open, the anger in my spirit crashed down and controlled my every move, splitting the wooden frames of the wall in pieces as the doors went flying past me to hit the wall behind, I didn’t spare a blink, as my dark eyes pierced into the view of the basement
If it wasn’t possible, the anger within me flowed even hotter when my eyes came into contact with the man standing in the middle of the basement, his hands wrapped around Cole’s neck as he held his above the floor, locking off the oxygen to the boy’s throat
My heart flatlined in my chest for a few seconds, a ringing in my ear echoed through my head when I saw how pale Cole’s face looked, his hands gripped the man’s as he tried to pry his head free from the Angel’s grasp
My face has become rigid, jaw clamped tight, teeth grinding. Apart of my brain failing to register this was actually happening. Again.
Caught off-guard without a warning, this was happening again. My heart clenching in my chest but the anger fueled me even more, for I knew there was no fucking way I’d let anything happen the same this time.
A low growl escaped my father’s throat as he leaped forward, gripping onto Mark’s body and making him stumble backwards, releasing Cole from his hands.
My hands reached up and froze the boy from collided to the ground, his body halted in the air as I slowly placed him to the flat ground. Vernon dashed right over to him
“Get him away from here!” I yelled, the girl nodded and clutched Cole’s body in her arms, holding him and standing to her feet
Vernon had held the panting boy’s body, helping him to stand to his feet and aiming towards the direction of the stairs to leave the chambers
“Well well well, look what we have here” A voice chuckled
The world turned into a blur, and so did all the sounds. The taste. The smell. Everything was just gone when I heard the familiar voice
“Where are you!” I hissed
“Oh don’t worry your little head about that” She laughed
“She’s afraid” Fawn muttered
“Now why would I be afraid of two teenagers and a pathetic excuse of a demon?” Medusa said
“Where the fuck are you!” I hissed again
“Don’t use such words, haven’t I raised you well?” she chuckled
“You didn’t raise me at all, you were busy being Heaven’s favorite whore” I spat
I guess that seemed to piss her off even more. Within the darkness, two silver eyes glowed from behind bars. Slowly steps echoed through the concrete floor and there she became visible
Medusa stood tall, her light skinned complexion looked almost perfect despite the pale and hallowed way her skin looked just a few minutes ago. Her silver eyes glowed bright, stronger than before and it made made my heart sink into my chest. Her teeth even seemed sharper than before, her skin was flawless and I wasn’t prepared to find out what else Mark had done to her
“You really think that’s going to hurt me?” she asked
“Do you want me to show you what pain really is!?” I spat but the woman threw her head back laughing
“That’s it. I’m fucking done with this” Fawn hissed and I furrowed my brows
With the permanent smile on Medusa’s face, it was obvious that she knew something we didn’t. But Fawn was more filled with rage upon seeing her mother’s face again, the woman who didn’t care if she was alive, the woman that placed her in a world of pain just to get her way, the woman who tossed her away from her mind without hesitation
With the anger that she had settled down in the pit of her stomach rising at a high level, Fawn leaped forward to the woman.
“Fawn, NO!” I hissed
But as I expected, I was too late
