Chapter 11

I followed Short into the kitchen, my back started to hurt like hell again, but I’m barely managing to ignore it. What made it worse was my collarbone, it felt as if someone snapped it, but it was fine.
Throughout breakfast I kept feeling a sharp burning pain in my back, a sharp pain in my collarbone, and my cheek was hurting like hell. I felt as if someone was beating me up, but there wasn’t a mark on my body.
Short watched me with a worried and confused expression, I was confused myself. This is weird, I couldn’t figure out why I would be feeling this when no one is even touching me.
Suddenly, a burst of emotions crashed into me, causing me to gasp. Short rushed over as I gripped the table to stop myself from falling.
Fear, pain, betrayal, self-hatred, desperation, disappointment, and sorrow all mixed together. In other words, I felt scared out of my mind and depressed. I felt worthless and I didn’t even know why, I don’t even have any history of depression.
“Okay, we’re taking you to the pack Doctor.” Short said as he picked me up.
I groaned and collapsed in his arms, allowing the darkness to wash over me.
When I woke up I almost screamed again, my heart started racing as I watched Jefferson. He was sitting in the chair beside my hospital bed, his green eyes studied me.
“What’s wrong with you?” He asked.
I swallowed, “I-I don’t know…I felt as if someone was beating me. But no one was touching me.”
His eyes widened, he suddenly stood up and started pulling at his hair as he paced back and forth.
“No, no, NO!” He yelled.
I gulped and shrunk back, fear washed over me as I saw a crazed look in his eyes. And this time, it was my fear not whatever that was. I gripped the sheets tighter when he suddenly stopped. He slowly turned towards me, his eyes black and glaring at me.
He suddenly lunged at me and grabbed me by my gown.
“HOW!? HOW ARE YOU FEELING IT!?” he shouted.
I had tears pool in my eyes as he was replaced with Edgar. I let out a scream before crying, begging him not to beat me anymore.
Through my blurred vision I saw two men grabbing him, trying to pull him off. Edgar suddenly relaxed, his face was blank as he turned and walked out.
I blinked a few times, trying to clear my vision. When I was able to see again I was met with a concerned Short and Eduardus.
“Hey, you okay?” Short asked.
I broke down in tears as I shook my head, “I don’t like this.”
I felt pathetic as I sobbed into Short’s shirt, but I couldn’t help it. That scared me more than anything has before. He snapped so easily, I don’t even know what exactly happened. Whatever I said about me feeling pain when no one is touching me, had bothered himimmensely.
Eduardus walked over and sat on the other side of me.
“I just ordered a few warriors to guard your door until I find Jefferson.” He told me.
I nodded, “Thank you.”
Suddenly, a sharp pain raced through my ribs. I cried out in pain, collapsing against Short once again. Hot tears burned my eyes as I attempted to somehow get rid of it. It felt as if someone was breaking my ribs, but they wouldn’t stop kicking me.
What the hell is happening to me?
