— Brant’s POV —
I opened the front door and walked into the living room. I smiled seeing my beautiful girlfriend laying down on the couch asleep. I walked over to her and kissed her forehead, stroking her cheek. Strands of her black hair was in her face and her chest raised up and down, making my wolf happy. Madeline isn’t my mate but I love her like she is.
I did have a mate, once. She died in rogue attack when I was sixteen. I knew Madeline then. I felt a stronger attraction towards Madeline than I ever did with my mate. I remember when I was fifteen and my father introduced her to me.
— Madeline’s POV —
“Mommy, I’m hungry.”Edwin complained, sitting in the car. I glanced at them and smiled.
“We’re going to stop by McDonald’s in a few minutes.”I told.
“When are we going to see Kyle?”
The whole car went silent. I looked at Brant, who had an emotionless expression. I sighed and placed my hand on his thigh. He instantly grabbed it and rubbed his thumb over my knuckles.
“Soon.”I said to Sofia. Brant was taking this hard. I gave him a sad look, which he ignored. Brant always treated the kids like his own and I really wished they were his. He loves them. He would talk about us having kids together.
“Okay.”She nodded. Today, we were going to the pack house so that the kids could see Brant’s parents. We quickly stopped by McDonald’s and got the kids something to eat. I handed them their food and made sure that it wouldn’t spill. I giggled as I fed Brant some fries and kissed his cheek.
“Ew!!”The kids shrieked as we laughed.”So what do you guys want to do when we get to the pack house?”
“To the lake!”They yelled excitedly. Behind the pack house was a small lake and it was more in the woods. It was beautiful there, especially at night. I looked at Brant as if asking and he nodded with a smile.
“We’re going to the lake.”I said, excitedly. The twins screamed with happiness and I grinned. My babies were happy.
—
“Oh shit! I forgot my bikini.”I frowned as Brant chuckled. He put one arm around my waist and the other on my cheek. I stared up into his green eyes and pecked his lips.
“Don’t worry about it. I have one in the car.”He raced back to the car, in an inhuman speed and came back with the bikini. It was royal blue.”I love the color blue on you.”
“Do you normally have a bikini in the back of your car?”I asked, amused. He just rolled his eyes.”You planned this didn’t you.”
I twirled my finger telling him to turn around. Thank god there was no one around here. I quickly slipped on my bikini and stopped at the strings.”Brant?”
“Yes?”He answered. I turned around and held the strings of my bikini. I felt him take the strings and tied them together. I turned back around to face him and kissed his cheek. Then I grabbed his hand, pulling him to the deck. We both jumped off and landed in the water with a big splash. I raised from the water and checked on the kids. They were playing on the shallow part of the water.
“Madeline.”I felt arms snake around my waist and I leaned back into his chest. I closed my eyes and relaxed in his arms. I listened to the sound of my children’s laughter and Brant’s heart beat. I noticed how it sped up as I leaned into his chest. I smiled and opened my eyes.
“Brant.”I turned around and met his green eyes.”Hmm.”I pressed my lips to his. He grabbed my legs and wrapped them around his torso. My hands made their way to his neck and I pressed my body closer to his.”I love you.”
I pulled away and stared into his eyes.”I love you too.”
A low growl erupted from his chest and I gave him a confused look. His eyes snapped to the deck and he glared. I looked where he was looking and frowned. It was Kyle, standing there with a hurt expression.
“Kyle? What are you doing here?”I asked, laying my head on Brant’s shoulder. He frowned, looking at us.
“I came to see the kids.”He told, glancing at the kids who still didn’t notice him. They were too busy splashing water at each other, giggling.
“Well you should have waited!”Brant glared and I kissed his shoulder. He calmed down and held me closer.
“I shouldn’t wait to see my own kids!”Kyle shouted, angry. I swam to the deck and looked up at him.
“You shouldn’t.”I agreed with him as he smiled.”But you should have told me before.”His smile faded and was replaced with anger.
I looked at his angry face.”How about after we’re finished here at the lake? You could take them out to eat or something.”
“Yeah. Okay.”He sighed, sounding disappointed. I gave him a confused look which he ignored.”Call me when you’re finished.”I frowned, watching him walk away. I’ve never really seen Kyle like this before. He looked broken and hurt. I could feel my heart aching. I miss him. I really do but I love Brant. I want us to be friends. Maybe if he didn’t mess up, things would have been different. It would be Kyle holding my hand as I give birth to the twins.
My thoughts came to a halt as I felt arms wrap around my waist and his face in the crook of my neck.”I wish he didn’t have to ruin our moment. Can I ask you a question?”
I nodded, slightly.
“Do you still love him?”
I froze.I repeated his question in my mind. Do I still love Kyle? No. Yes.No. I don’t know. I love Brant, not Kyle. Brant is always there for me, not Kyle.
I shook my head and spun around.”I love you.”
“You didn’t answer my question. Do you still love him?”He sighed.
“I don’t know.”
