Anwen POV
The closer they come the less the gentleman in front looks like Axel.
I back up and melt back to Death’s side. My face falls and my excitement falters. I really thought it was him. They come closer and the room silences as the guests come forth. They all look menacing and mean as they stand around.
The gentleman in front does resemble Axel but isn’t him at all. His face is full of freckles and his eyes are more of a storm. His voice is deep as he speaks. To my surprise, he addresses me.
“What are you doing with him?” He asks.
I blink entirely confused. “What? I work for him…”
Another person elbows him and whispers something in his ear. He raises his eyebrows and takes a second look at me. “Oh, my apologies. I mistook you for someone else,”
I lower my gaze “Yes, I mistook you for someone else as well.”
I glance over at Death and see the rage in his eyes. “How dare you show up here uninvited? You aren’t allowed here,”
Hoots of agreement come from the crowd. The once divided room comes together against this new group. I am scared to ask who they are and why everyone seems to hate them.
The man boldly tsks. “You said that all companies and organizations are welcome, did you not?”
“Half-Bloods have never been organized. You have your little association but you’ve never been recognized. You filthy scum are always scurrying underneath us like you’re meant to do,” Death seethes “Now, get off my property.”
The gentleman raises his hand. “Korrena,”
The blonde woman behind him with big green eyes stands straighter. “Yes sir,”
“Give me the paperwork,”
The blonde digs into her suitcase and takes out a stack of papers. He hands it to Death. Death snatches the paper from his hand and he begins to read. I peer over at the papers:
~~
The Phoenixes
Collective Society for Half-Bloods.
Signed and Certified by The Board of Reapers.
~~
Death clenches his jaw and hands over the papers.
“What does it say?” A person whispers.
“Why isn’t he kicking that garbage out?”
The room murmurs and demands an answer. Death raises his head and faces the reapers. “It seems that the half-bloods formed a society recognized by The Board. They are free to dine here for tonight,”
It physically hurts Death to say that.
“How can they form a society?”
“Preposterous!”
“I refuse to dine with them,”
“Let us take our leave!”
The Reapers all sneer at them. The so-called Half-Bloods appear calm as if they are used to this sort of treatment. The Half-Bloods stare at me ignoring the chaos. The gentleman raises his hand “Don’t fret folks, we came here to deliver a message and the message has been heard loud and clear. We’ll depart now but before I do, may I catch your name, young lady?”
“Mine?” I ask.
“Yes, yours. My name is Lucas, what’s yours?” He asks with a gentle smile.
“Anwen…” I tell him.
“Credo rursus videbimus invicem,” He tells me before going up the staircase “Usque ad tempus illud,”
I furrow my brows. What does he mean by that? I’ll see more of him?
He waits for a second before shooting me a million dollar smile. Him and his crew walk up the staircase and close the door behind them. I am left confused as ever.
The Reapers are all left stunned by the incident and converse amongst themselves. The atmosphere is thick.
“That Half-Blood fancies her?”
“Does he dare want a reaper woman?!”
“What did he say? Does anyone speak his tongue?”
“Is he trying to steal Death’s mate?”
This type of talk fills the room to the brim. Death stands up and takes my hand. He excuses himself and takes me to a door I haven’t noticed. He opens the door and we walk into a little hallway. Death is silent and his face shows he’s in deep thought.
“Death, what is a Half-Blood and why does everyone hate them so much?”
Death is still entranced by his thoughts. He looks as if he’s fighting something in his mind.
“Death?” I say, beginning to get worried. “Who were they?”
He twists his mouth and clenches his fist. “They’re mistakes. They’re just inconvenient mistakes,”
“Mistakes?” I start “What do you mean?”
“They’re a product of corrupt criminals and they’re multiplying. They’re messing up the balance! How did in the hell they get certified?” Death rants.
“But what are they?! Just answer my question, Death. What are they?”
He sneers. “They are the children of Reapers who couldn’t help themselves with humans. All it takes is one Reaper to meddle with a human and their whole family line is corrupted. They are cursed, Anwen. There not people that you want to get mixed up with,”
His eyes dart across the room. “But why does he want you? I-I have to protect you,”
He pauses and finally his gaze softens at the look of my face. “I’m keeping you home. We’ll do the steps a-and you have to go. That’s what you called me for, right?”
“Yes, that’s what I called you for…”
He looks back at me, his eyes fixed on mine. He takes slow steps causing me to step back until the back of my head reaches the stone wall. “We’ll do the steps and I’ll let you go. It’ll hurt me but I have to,”
I raise my face towards his as he inches closer. “It’ll hurt you?”
“Very much, Anwen,” He says, his minty breath fanning my face.
“Why would it hurt?” I ask as his lips become closer to mine.
He pauses. “Because I like you, Anwen. I really like you.”
And with that, he claims my lips as his.

FINALLY! F-I-N-A-LL-YYYYYYY.
Btw… how the hell is this only 922 words? This took me centuries to write and it totals up to 922 words. I have a sneaking suspicion that Wattpad’s word counter is off. I mean at least give me 1k, I mean gosh.
