I woke up tangled in Josh’s grasp. Our bodies were bare and his face was inches from my collar bone. I let out a tired sigh and closed my eyes for a few seconds longer.
It was two months after my miscarriage.
I curled my fingers against his chest and let them travel up to his hair playing with the soft ends. I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I really needed robe proactive. We both did, to be honest. Chris had been taking on all Josh’s duties for awhile, but he didn’t seem to mind. I just didn’t like the fact we were bumming it out on him.
Josh’s sleeping posture soon vanished when his eyes slowly opened. A long breath escaped his nose and he looked me right in the eye. “Morning, sweetheart.” He said in a sleep filled voice. I nearly melted.
“Morning, baby,” I replied, running my fingers across his very defined jawline. His eyes closed and he slowed his breathing down again as I continued to rub his jaw. I was making it harder for myself to get out of bed.
“Let me go, please.” I mumbled, using my other hand to try and pull his arm off my hips. He didn’t even reply, a small smile crept onto his face as he pulled me closer to his body.
“I can’t.” He muttered a minute later. I let out a sigh and tried to get out of his grasp again. Nothing. I didn’t even budge a millimeter.
“Why not?” I asked, I rested the palm of my hand against his cheek and focused more on his heart beat. I watched as he opened his eyes and looked at me with a smile before closing them again.
“Because I love you.” He replied. I rolled my eyes and gave him a quick kiss on the corner of his mouth. He peeked an eye open and closed it too quickly.
“Well then you have to let me go. ya know? There’s an old saying that if you love something let it go and if it comes back it was always yours and if it doesn’t it never truly was.” I shrugged.
“How do I know you’ll come back?” He was kidding, right? Did I really need to explain it. A smile formed on my lips and I quickly pressed them to his. When I pulled away his eyes were open and there was a wide grin on his sleepy complexion.
“Because you’ll have bacon cooked when I get out of the shower?” I offered. Hoping he would get up and cook some. I wasn’t sure how but his smile grew. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss on the tip of my nose.
“Of course, but it’d be better if I was in the shower with you and-” he started but I cut him off.
“It’s too early in the morning, and you can barely keep your eyes open.” I groaned, plus he had left me sore from last night.
“It’s never too early to jump my bones, I know you want too.” He was getting cocky. I rolled my eyes and shook my head against it.
“It is- and I actually like walking so….” I pushed his hair back and he let out a long exaggerated sighed. He was in desperate need of a hair cut. It was almost long enough to put in a man bun, not that I mind or anything..
“Fine, just one more kiss then I’ll let you ‘shower’ I don’t even know why you need to I mean your just going to get dirty again tonight after we-” I cut him short by a quick kiss, and pried myself from his grip.
A growl sounded behind me as I stepped into the bathroom. Poking my head out the door I flashed my teeth at Josh who was sitting up in bed looking my way. He gave me an amused look, and then rolled his eyes.
Half way though my hot shower, I was scared to death when the door slid open. I held back a scream and looked to see what it was. Josh was peeping in with a smile on his face.
“Breakfast is ready- now can I join?” I rolled my eyes and didn’t answer him, instead I walked back under the water and rinsed the shampoo from my hair.
Seconds later arms wrapped themselves around me, bringing me into his large chest. I sighed, and didn’t bother to move. He gripped my chin and held my face to his with a passionate kiss. I never wanted it to end. I growled when he swiped his tongue across my lip. I pulled away too suddenly.
“Josh, no. Were not having sex right now.” I grumbled. I felt my cheeks burn when he looked down at me with a soft smile.
“It’s okay, I just want to hold you.” He breathed pulling my body back to his. His lips burned against my forehead and he didn’t bother to pull away. I closed my eyes and let the sparks shoot through my body.
“Do you want to go to the lake?” He asked, pulling away and looking into my eyes.
“It’d be fun. Do you have a tube?”
“Yeah, a few guys are going so I didn’t know if you wanted to go- I can invite Rena and there’s like two other girls going and-” I shook my head.
“I’ll go. Are we going to stay the night there…?”
“Yeah, we are. No one else-” he wiggled his eyebrows and dipped his head down into the water pecking my lips.
“Put on a swimsuit when you get out, yeah?” He commented climbing out of the shower with the biggest grin on his face I’ve ever saw.
I smiled. There was a loud bang outside the shower door, and a grunt from Josh. “Shit! Stupid counter!” I burst into a fit of laughter.
I got out of the shower and pulled on a pair of white swim bottoms and searched for my top. I frowned when I found it with every string untied. After almost ten minutes of trying to tie it I finally managed to get it right. Then I slipped on one of Josh’s large button up shirts and didn’t bother buttoning it.
I walked into the kitchen and found the warm pile of bacon on the counter. I took a piece and shoved it inside my mouth.
A yelp escaped my mouth as I was picked up from the ground and tossed over a shoulder. I didn’t have to look to see who it was. I was sitting on his shoulders within seconds.
“Can you get me another piece?” I asked, grabbing onto his forehead so I wouldn’t fall. Josh chuckled, and headed towards the pile of food. He handed me a piece and stuck a slice inside his mouth as well.
“When are we leaving?” I asked, Josh shrugged.
“Are you done eating?” I nodded my head. I forgot he couldn’t see my face so I mumbled a ‘mmmhmmm.’ Carefully he took me off his shoulders and put me on my feet.
“What are you wearing?” He asked furrowing his eyebrows. His eyes stayed on my chest for a few seconds longer than he should have. I cleared my throat and his eyes shot to mine. He clearly knew I knew and smiled.
“A shirt?” It came out more of a question.
“Whatever- ready?” I only nodded my head in reply.
“I pack you a bag for tomorrow- okay?” He said gripping the back of my legs carrying me bridal style. I gave him a soft smile, and wrapped my arms around his neck.
“God,” he breathed looking down at me, “I can’t wait to carry you like this in a wedding gown.”
