Jolene and Alexander were now in Jolene’s living room glaring and growling lowly at each other. To say that the outing to the club had been a catastrophe would be an understatement.
Everything began when Jolene finished getting ready and showed Alexander her outfit. She wore a low cut orange shift dress with black tights and ankle boots. Alexander thought she was joking until he heard her car’s engine. Half joking and serious, he said she looked like a hooker. Jolene being the docile lady she is, told him to go fuck himself and left the apartment.
Jolene went to Kathe’s house to pick her up. She knocked on the door and to her surprise Lancelot opened it. He sighed and let out a low whistle when he saw her. Jolene gave him a small smile. He let her into the house. Matt and Samuel were in the living room sitting on a couch. Matt smirked when he saw her. That was obviously not a coincidence. She narrowed her eyes to him and he shrugged. Jolene went to Kathe’s bedroom to help her with her makeup. It did not take long before she was ready.
“Aren’t you going to take that?” asked Kathe pointing to Jolene’s phone. The screen was flashing.
Jolene sighed and answered the phone. ‘Talk,’ she said.
‘Jolene beautiful. I was just joking. Where are you?’
He sounds distressed, she thought. ‘I am picking up my friend. Want me to go get you?’
‘Yes, love.’
Jolene hung up and turned to Kathe. “Ready?” she asked with a wide smile.
Kathe beamed and took her hand, pulling her toward the living room.
“Ta-da!” said Kathe extending her arms in front of the boys.
Samuel grinned and gave her thumbs up. However, Lancelot’s eyes were glued on Jolene. Matt stood up.
“Don’t you think that dress is a little short?” asked Matt.
“Don’t you begin with that you too,” said Jolene. She put a hand in front of him. “You know what? We are leaving. Bye.” She waved.
“Run to the car, Kathe. Run!” Jolene whisper-shouted, getting chuckles from the boys.
Kathe sprinted to the car, stumbling with her heels and almost falling in her way there. Jolene walked behind her laughing. She was about to leave the house when she felt his arms around her.
“You look beautiful, Jolene,” said Lancelot, hugging her from behind.
He placed a kiss on her cheek and let go of her. Jolene left the house and took a few steps toward her car. She turned around and locked eyes with Lancelot. He smiled and waved at her. She got into her car with a grin on her face. Kathe nudged her shoulder and giggled.
Jolene drove back to her apartment. Alexander was waiting for her at the drive way.
“Holy shi…” said Kathe as she saw him. “Do you know that eye candy? I think I need the holy water.”
Xander smirked and walked to the car. He hopped in the back seat.
“I am Alexander. Nice to meet you.” He smiled warmly and offered his hand to Kathe, which she shyly shook.
“I am Kathlyn. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
“Xander, today’s quest is to give Kathe the funnest night ever,” said Jolene.
Xander smiled and nodded.
They finally arrived to the club and salsa music was blasting. Jolene sighed and smiled widely; She grabbed Xander’s and Kathe’s hands. They walked around the club, looking for somewhere to sit and found a couch in a corner near the bar. Xander sat down and Jolene and Kathe shot each other knowing looks and grinned. They left their jackets on the couch. Jolene extended her hand to Xander and he shook his head. Jolene shrugged. The girls walked to the dance floor.
Jolene took Kathe’s hands and began dancing; Kathe looked at her with a panicked look on her face.
“I want to dance, but I do not really know how to dance salsa,” said Kathe.
Jolene giggled. “I will teach you.”
Jolene showed her the basic steps. Kathe followed her lead and soon, they were dancing. Kathe did miss some steps from time to time but she caught up quickly each time it happened. Jolene twirled her around and they both laughed.
Jolene felt someone tap on her shoulder and turned around to face a blond guy she had never met before. Another guy with sort black hair was by his side. They both were not half bad looking.
“My friend and I wondered if you two wanted to dance with us?” the blond guy asked.
Kathe gripped Jolene’s hand; Jolene looked at her from the corner of her eye. She looked uncomfortable.
“Sorry. I am with her,” said Jolene, sliding her hand around Kathe’s waist.
The guys left and Jolene turned to Kathe.
“Not your type?” she asked.
Kathe giggled. “I still do not feel confident enough. I do not want to make a fool out of myself.”
“I understand.”
The girls kept dancing and Kathe was getting better and better at it. Jolene was not surprised, she knew Kathe was a natural. Kathe stiffened for a moment and stared toward the bar. Jolene turned around following her line of sight. Alexander was sitting on a barstool by the bar talking to a skinny tall brunette with a skimpy dress. Jolene stopped dancing and stared at them. Xander was smiling and the girl rested her hand on his chest playfully. He touched her hair. It had been a good five minutes when he noticed he was being watched and locked eyes with Jolene. He pushed her hand away and Jolene turned back to Kathe. They began dancing again.
“Are you okay?” asked Kathe.
“I am good.” Jolene sighed. “I had made a decision already. This just shows me that it was the correct one.”
The girls kept dancing and soon Jolene forgot about everything. She laughed and sang while she danced. One guy tapped Kathe’s shoulder and Jolene swore she saw her eyes shine when she looked at him. He was a hot werewolf. He was tall but had just enough muscles, deep green eyes and shaggy brown hair. Just what Kathe needs. Jolene smirked when she heard Kathe’s irregular heartbeat.
“Would you give me this dance?” he asked Kathe.
Kathe turned to face Jolene with pinkish cheeks and she gave her thumbs up. Jolene walked to the side as the couple started dancing. She could not stop grinning as she watched them. She considered going to the bar to get a drink, but Alexander was still there, now talking to a petite blonde and her friend. Jolene sighed and looked away.
“Did someone stole your dance partner?” a husky voice said to her side.
Jolene turned to her right and her eyes locked with the deep brown eyes of the handsome human guy standing next to her. He had slightly tanned skin and was not very tall, maybe a few inches taller than her with heels; He is fine, she thought. Jolene smiled.
“I wanted to ask you for a dance earlier but I saw how you rejected those guys and I thought that maybe you and the other girl where dating or something…”
Jolene giggled. “We are just friends. Why aren’t you dancing now?”
“I was waiting for the prettiest girl in the room,” he said.
“Good luck with that,” said Jolene, turning back to fan girl over Kathe and the other guy again.
“So, I wonder if you wanted to dance with me?” he asked.
Jolene shook her head. “No, tha-”
Jolene’s favorite salsa song started. She squealed and took the guy’s hand, pulling him to the dance floor. She took one of his hands in hers and her other hand went to his shoulder; He put his other hand on her waist. They began dancing to a slow part of the song.
He chuckled when she began singing the song.
“I know I am not a good singer, but you do not have to laugh,” she said.
He gave her a crooked smile. “It is difficult not to laugh when you look so happy.”
Jolene laughed. “Happy music makes me happy.”
“Good, because happy people make me happy.”
The guy was a great dancer but she was the one leading. Their bodies swayed to the rhythm. It was almost as if they could read each other’s minds in the way only a couple who had danced thousands of times before would.
“This is the good part!” she said grinning.
He twirled her around, and soon the other people in the club were looking at their dancing. Jolene giggled the whole time.
When the music slowed, he pulled her closer to him until their bodies touched. She rested her cheek on his chest finally catching her breath.
He twirled her around again during the fastest part of the song. When the song slowed down, they got closer again, staring into each other’s eyes.
He turned her around for the last time as the song ended. A round of applause filled the club.
Another song was about to start and Jolene bounced in place excitedly, but someone yanked at her arm and she stumbled a few steps behind him as he walked toward the exit. Jolene waved her dance partner goodbye, and caught up with Alexander, who was still roughly gripping her arm.
They went to the patio out of the building were some people were smoking. As soon as Xander let go of her, Jolene turned around rubbing her now bruised arm. Jolene could feel the Alpha’s anger as he glared daggers at her.
He growled lowly and began talking. “Jolene, what do you think th-”
“I am not going to talk about this right now,” Jolene said as she walked to the nearest chair and sat down. “We will wait here until Kathe wants to go because I will not let you ruin her night.”
As in cue Kathe walked out of the building, holding hands with the boy from earlier.
“Are you leaving?” she asked.
Jolene smiled warmly to her. “No. We just wanted some fresh air. Go ahead and have fun. We will meet here when you want to go.”
Kathe stared at Jolene wide-eyed. Jolene nodded at her and shooed her to go back to the club. Kathe nodded and went back.
Jolene silently looked at her feet for what seemed an eternity, but in reality it had been only half an hour. Alexander had pulled a chair for himself and was sitting next to her.
“Aren’t you cold?” asked Alexander.
Just then Jolene noticed she was not wearing a coat, but she was too angry to care.
“Hoes don’t get cold,” she said without looking up.
“Jolene-”
“No, just not. I do not want to hear anything you have to say.”
They sat silently for another half an hour until Kathe walked down to them carrying hers and Jolene’s coats. Jolene grinned and stood up when she saw her. She had a worried face but at the same time her joy was evident.
“You will be telling me the details tomorrow,” she said with a wink.
They all walked to the car and drove silently to Kathe’s house. Jolene waved her goodbye before driving away to her house still refusing to acknowledge Alexander.
Jolene and Alexander were now in Jolene’s living room glaring and growling lowly at each other.
