Chapter 28

Josh’s STORY
There were two little brothers, a thin and tall elder and a strong but short younger. With only a two-year difference, they were very close with each other. But apart from their age, the differences were huge. Their parents always favored the younger one, made even the younger stood up for the elder. They ran away from home together when they were 15, to a pack called Howling Devil which later they found was a rogue group.
They were just asked to steal something at first, but sooner it’d be robbery and even kill. The younger thought it was wrong and wanted quit, but it was not that simple when it comes to gang thing. Once you in, never thought out alive. And he was too scared to go back to his father for help.
Until one day he was caught red-handed by a man while stealing. Instead of being taken to the police station, he was taken to the man’s house.
The boy didn’t fight back because he knew he was wrong and wanted the chance to leave the rogue group.
The man brought a picture, of which this boy in it.
“Your Frost’s boy, right?” The man asked the boy, shaking the picture. “Your father has been looking for you.” He said.
The boy told the whole thing and hoped that the man would help him go back. And of course the man did, even better he rushed into the devil’s lair and brought the elder brother back with him.
Before going home the two boys spent the night at the man’s house, that’s when the younger one meet his first love, daughter of the man.
It was supper time, the two boys sat on a bench outside the door watching blanky the sunset. A beautiful girl showed up the way to the house. Her white dress whirled about in the wind, reflecting colors of the purple sky.
“Mine.” That’s his first word to himself seeing his mate. But he was too shy to express himself after all that time at devil place. So he wrote a letter to the girl’s father in hoping to get reply by next day.
“Be a real man and come back to my girl.” The man gave back the letter on the way sending them home. The boy did get a reply, just not in the way he had hoped.
When they got home, the brothers were punished of course. The younger brother was so preoccupied with the girl that he decided to pull himself together, become the real Alpha, and go back to the girl.
Until one day his brother left pack again cursing he will ruin his life.
When the younger came to girl’s home again at his 19, only to find the empty house and news from the neighbors that the whole family were killed during a raid by some devil rogue group…

By the time I finished my story, I found Janet fall asleep already. Since when? No matter.
Her face was a little too burning like feverish, I decided to have our pack doctor come to check it…

Janet’s POV

When I wake up, I found Josh pacing back and forth beside the bed. He noticed me and sat by my side.
“Was something wrong with me?” I asked.
“No it’s just- it” he sighed and looked at me then back to the ground. A soft smile was on his lips and he shook his head, “god, I can’t talk around you. I still lose my words, it’s embarrassing.” He chuckled. I shook my head. He just wants the words to be right so he won’t upset me again.
He’s never been good with words unless it’s for a pack meeting. And most of the times when those were called for his father usually does it, or he does short answers to their questions.
“I mean I’m starting a family with you, you’d think id be able to talk to you by now, and god, I don’t know how to put this. Last time it was the other way around.” He rubbed his temples and looked at me. He turned closer to the lake and took a seat at the edge placing his feet in the water. I followed suite hoping I didn’t make a mistake.
His gaze focused on my ring and his fingers played with it. Why was he so nervous? We had wedding already, and you would think that was when he had the most nerves. Yet, it was right now. He was jumpy, fidgety even.
“I haven’t to be completely honest with you,” he said finally. I looked into his eyes and noticed the regretful look staring back at me.
“just tell me,” I breathed. Wondering if I could even take what he was about to hit me with. It’s impossible to know until they say it.
“Janet,” he breathed looking down at my hand then back up at me. A painful sigh escaped his lips and his eyes darted anywhere but mine. “There’s someone else, you should know about.” My heart broke into a million pieces.
He was cheating on me? Or was that what he want to say about ‘first love’ thing? I was too tired and only heard the beginning of his love story. I looked down at my hands and pulled away from him. Did he love her until today? My lip quivered as much as I wanted to cry I couldn’t. That’s exactly what he’s expecting me to do, isn’t it?
My heart stopped beating, almost literally. How could I even react to something like that? I sucked in a shaky breath and ran a hand under my eye.
“How long?” I asked, unable to breath anymore. I watched as he quickly grabbed my hands and held them tightly.
“It’s only been a couple of weeks, but I know I’ll fall in love Janet.” Josh said. I continued to look at him processing what he was saying.
I should know about someone else.
A couple of weeks.
A smile grew on his lips as realization dawned on me. The same expression was on my face in only a matter of seconds. I tackled him to the ground and littered his face with kisses. I know I should be mad at him but right now I’m happy beyond words.
“You mean I’m….?” Wow. Just wow. How the hell did he know anyways?
“Pregnant? Yeah,” he grinned, grabbing the sides of my face pulling our lips together in a kiss each of us needed.
I pulled away and growled unable to keep my smile at bay. “YOU BASTARD! You almost made me cry!” I laughed slapping his body and pulling away from him. I brought my knees to my chest and let out a sigh.
I let the words hit me. Maybe this time- I’ll be strong enough to keep it. But, who knows.
