After class Jolene drove to the grocery store to get the ingredients for the rice with chicken. To most challenging mission of her life was set to start that same night.
She got home and got ready to go meet Lancelot at the waterfall. She drove there, like the last time. She got there earlier than Lancelot but he soon arrived in his wolf form, carrying his clothes in a bag on his muzzle. He jumped at her making her stagger back fall down. He licked her face repetitively and wiggled his tail. She closed her eyes and hugged him.
While he went to shift and get dressed, she washed her face with the cold water from the river. He went back and sat by her side.
“You always react like that when you are in your wolf form,” she said laughing.
“That is my instinct taking over. But if it was for me, I would be kissing you all the time also, and to be fair you did just the same that day,” he said.
Jolene cleared her throat and looked away, remembering when she tackled him in her wolf form. “So, how was the rest of your day?”
Lancelot chuckled nervously recalling what had happened just before he left the house while he was getting ready to see her.
Someone had knocked on his bedroom door and when he opened, a girl he had been with before was there. He noticed that the girl was about to jump to him and quickly closed the door on her face saying “nope,” which resulted in her crashing against it.
Chris was in the living room when Lancelot walked toward the front door. When he got out of his room he told her that if she ever tried to touch him again he would kill her. He guessed that his tone might have been cold or frightening as the girl began shivering and just nodded before running away in tears.
“Are you still playing at being the good mate?” asked Chris as soon as he saw him.
Lancelot rolled his eyes and ignored him as he walked out and to the woods.
He was running late so had he left as fast as he could, too fast to hear the last words Chris had said. “Enjoy. It does not matter what you do now. Everything is already being arranged.”
Jolene snapped her fingers in front of him. “Lancelot?”
He looked at her. “Oh, yeah right. The day was good.”
Lancelot gave her a half smile. He did not want to make her worry about other girls or anything else anymore.
“Are you su-?”
He pulled her closer and hugged her, silencing her question against his chest.
“I am sure. Everything is good now that you are here with me.”
Jolene rubbed circles on his back and he took as much of her scent in as he could. “It is perfect just perfect,” Lancelot whispered.
He pulled away. “What about your day?”
“Oh, I went buy groceries. My mom gave me the recipe yesterday.” Jolene’s eyebrows furrowed. “Oh right! I promised her a picture!” She looked at him grinning.
“A picture?”
“A picture of me and you.”
“With me?”
“Yes, a picture of us.”
“A picture of us…” He fidgeted with his hands and looked down with a small smile.
She flicked his forehead. “Are you going to keep repeating everything I say?”
He nodded and she chuckled sarcastically.
“Come here,” he said. He opened his legs and pulled her making her back crash against his chest and hugging her. She turned her face to stare at him in surprise. Before she could say anything he had already taken a picture with his phone. “Hey! I was not even looking at the camera!”
Lancelot chuckled and kissed her cheek. He took another picture.
One of Jolene’s eyebrows twitched and she noticed he was about to take another picture. So, she turned around, cupped his cheeks and placed her forehead against his. He lowered his gaze and tilted his head slightly. Their lips were almost brushing. He took another picture.
“Now look at the camera,” he said pulling away.
She rolled her eyes. “Tease.”
He took another picture.
“Now I have your mean look documented.”
“Hey!” She looked at the camera and smiled sweetly.
She kept the smile on for the following picture.
Lancelot showed her his cellphone. They looked at the pictures and smiled. Jolene’s favorite picture was the last one. She was smiling at the camera but Lancelot was smiling at her.
Jolene turned to him smirking.”So Samuel wants a girl that looks at him the way you look at me?”
He looked away, his cheeks were already turning red.
“There is my blushing little Alpha.”
He covered his face with one hand and groaned. “You are making it worse.”
Jolene laughed. “So, you promised to tell me something today.”
“Oh, I promised?” he said giving her a half smile.
“Yes, you promised,” she said with a severe expression.
Lancelot put his hands up. “Okay, okay. I promised, but you promise me that you will not get mad at things that are in the past.”
Jolene nodded. Lancelot sighed and hugged her from behind again.
“The first day of class when I saw you only one thought crossed my mind: flawless,” he whispered in her ear.
Jolene felt herself melt at his words and a smile spread.
Lancelot kept talking. “I felt lovestruck and I had just met you. The more I looked at you, the more captivating I found you. However, I did not understand what that feeling meant and I did not want to have a crush on my new teacher. That is why I asked you about your biggest flaw, but your answer was unexpectedly funny.”
Jolene snickered. “What can I say? I am hilarious.” it made her happy to know that she was not the only one who had felt something when they met.
“I have noticed.” Lancelot kissed her cheek and sighed. “Then, I saw you in the mall. I did not recognize you at first and still wanted to talk to you. You looked so sexy when you knocked down that guy…”
Jolene nodded and looked to the front. She knew the rest of the story and would rather not talk about that. For her, it would be ideal to never mention it. However, at the same time, she wanted to know what he had felt and why.
Lancelot noticed how her heart rate had increased. He turned her around and looked at how Jolene attempted to keep a blank face but did not meet his gaze. He touched her cheek and she leaned her face toward his hand. He sighed heavily. He knew he had to own up to his mistakes. “And then I kissed that girl in front of you.”
“Why would you do that?” she whispered looking at her lap.
“I wanted to see how you reacted.” He kissed her head and an inhaled deeply. “It was a stupid and immature thing to do, I know. You left the mall almost immediately but stayed on my mind. I had never felt so attracted to anyone but thought it pointless to try.”
“Why did you think that?”
“When you called me a kid, I convinced myself that you would never see me as anything but that.”
“I did call you kid that day. Didn’t I?”
Lancelot smiled and nodded. “And I-”
“You hate being called that to no end,” said Jolene, looking up with a happy expression. “I have noticed.”
He grinned and nodded.
Lancelot looked away from her and toward the waterfall at the right, a crimson color extending through his cheeks to his ears. “That night when you walked into that I wanted to crawl into a hole and die.” “And the next day you completely ignored me.” Lancelot covered his face with both hands.
“I did not know how to act, to be honest,” said Jolene biting her lip and trying to block the mental image.
Lancelot shook his head and chuckled nervously. “I did not have idea of how to act or what to say.” He could feel his cheeks still warm. “And that concludes today’s episode of Oh Gosh How Can Lancelot Be Such an Idiot.”
Jolene laughed and hit his arm playfully. “Looking forward the next episode.”
“You enjoy when I am embarrassed, don’t you?”
She looked at Lancelot and leaned closer to him. “There is one thing I would enjoy much more than that.”
Lancelot smirked. “And what would that be?”
“This,” she said and began tickling his sides.
“Stop!” He growled and tried to fight back to no avail.
“Why? This is fun.”
Lancelot stood up and ran away from her toward the forest. She chased him. The only thing Jolene could hear was the swirling river and the twigs snapping under her feet and Lancelot’s pleas for mercy when she caught up to him.
He had always despised being tickled. Just about everyone but Jolene knew it. No one ever dared to even try and tickle him, not even when he was a child, that is why he is that sensitive. However, when she did it, he enjoyed it. It made him happy. After all, it was the most she usually touched him.
After talking and chasing each other, they agreed it was time to go home. Lancelot had homework to do, and Jolene had meals to learn how to cook. She dropped him off at his house and went back to her apartment.
