Chapter 48

I sighed as I searched through the fridge, deciding on what I wanted to make tonight. Edgar was still sleeping, but I like it that way. He threw up three times from his migraine before he was able to take medicine.
Now, he has been sleeping for two hours. I grabbed the chicken breasts and decided on making breaded chicken.
“Hey.”
I turned around to see Eduardus standing in the entrance. There was a pained look in his eyes as he stared at the ground.
“Am I really a monster for attacking her brother? I mean…he challenged me…I couldn’t help it.” He asked.
I shook my head, “He’s an idiot for challenging you. I’m going to have a talk with Amelia later.”
“Melanie, really, it’s fine.”
“No, it isn’t, Eduardus. What she’s doing will eventually kill you. Do you want that?”
He sighed, “No.”
I nodded, “Good. Then it’s settled, I’m going to have a nice long chat with Amelia after dinner.”
I managed to wake Edgar up just in time for dinner. He was a little out of it at first, but then recognized where he was. He blushed and kissed me on the lips before following me down.
Eduardus immediately brightened up when his brother walked in. I smiled as the two talked and teased each other. Over the last few days they’ve grown closer. Edgar is no longer afraid of his brother or Short. It’s a relief to know that when I’m not ariund, he has a few more people that he trusts.
He’s still a little jumpy around doctors and nurses, but that will only get better with time. Kathy had apologized to me not too long ago. Seems like finding your true mate changes a person.
“So, what’s this about having a chat with his mate?” Edgar questioned.
I smiled, “Oh, nothing. Just going to give her a piece of my mind and find out why she’s being an idiot. In case you haven’t noticed, honey, being cupid is my new job.”
