I sighed dramatically as I collapsed onto the bed, complaining about the bags ripping my arms off. Penelope jumped on me and cheered.
“We’re now in Miami bitches!” She beamed.
I groaned and shoved her off, “Yes, but that doesn’t mean jump on me.”
“Well, I did anyway.” She stated, folding her arms across her chest and sticking her tongue out.
I raised an eyebrow before shaking my head, “So, you and Gabriel aren’t allowed to share a room?”
“No.” She pouted. “Your father said he doesn’t want to hear us going at it.”
I burst out laughing, earning a scowl from her. “I’m sorry, but I agree with him.”
“Oh, shush. When you meet some guy that you love, you two will be going at it like rabbits.”
“Yeah, I won’t find that guy in a thousand years.”
“You never know.”
I rolled my eyes, if I decide to be with someone they would have to be human or a werewolf who’s mate is either on the other side of the world or permanently gone. I got stuck in a relationship with a guy who’s mate decided she wanted him back. Apparently, he was only using me to make her jealous. Well, fuck them too.
I threw my hair into a messy bun as I unpacked, rambling about hating Edgar the whole time. I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to handle seeing his face again, I’ll either break down in tears or have a panic attack. Panic attack most likely.
“Hey, when is the meeting anyway?” Penelope asked.
I shrugged, “Sometime tomorrow morning. We have to be up by six.”
“Ew.”
“I know.”
Once we were finished unpacking we decided to go out for dinner, I was starving. Gabriel joined us, but our parents wanted to go on a date without kids.
As we walked into the restaurant I immediately smiled, I sprinted up to him and hugged him.
“Hey Uncle Short!” I beamed.
He chuckled and hugged me back, “Hey kid, how are you holding up?”
“I’ve been getting better.” I replied. “He’s not here, is he?”
“Actually, no. No one has seen him in three months, he just suddenly disappeared. His beta is in charge now, but he sent someone else here.”
I frowned, “That’s odd, Jefferson skipping an alpha meeting?”
“Well, betas usually don’t come anyway.”
“Well yeah, but he always went with Edgar from what I’ve heard. The gamma stayed back and watched over the pack.”
Short shrugged, “Don’t know, that pack is mysterious.”
I grunted in reply before saying goodbye and running over to my brother and Penelope. I plopped down in a chair and picked up the menu.
Oh, steak!
