Chapter 57

Day 7, Sunday
I woke up expecting everything to be better. Still, I found myself in the same room as before and Alexander sitting on a chair. This time he was awake, staring at me.
“I already injected you the wolfsbane, so do not try to pull another one like two days ago,” said Alexander. His voice sounded cold and distant.
“Oh…” I looked down and clutched my hands. After what Abigail had told me, I expected to wake up to something… different. Alex, where are you?
“What got you thinking so hard, love?”
“Could I talk to Abigail?”
“Your friend Abigail? She is now becoming acquainted with your son in the dungeons.”
“What?” I felt my lower lip quivering and my hands went numb. Is this another twisted joke? No. Everything was supposed to be okay.
Alexander stood up, and for the first time, I noticed the silver knife he was holding in his hands. He paced across the room clicking his tongue.
“Tsk Tsk. Don’t look so sad. I was kidding, beautiful,” he said.
I let out the breath I was holding.
Alexander smirked darkly. “She is actually in solitary confinement. Her mate is also in another one of our dungeons.”
“Why would you do that?” I asked. I wanted to scream. The only people who had helped me were being punished because of me.
“Well, it seems that I cannot trust anyone. Not even you.” He pointed the knife at me. “Did you all think that I was that stupid? That I would not figure out what you had done?” He yelled, waving his arms violently. “I tried to be good to you. I really tried, but you! You attacked me. You turned my people against me. I have had enough.”
I jumped out of bed and noticed him getting ready to attack. However, he lunged forward, dropping the knife, and grabbed me. He threw me on the bed and pinned me down with one hand while taking off his belt with the other.
“What are you doing?” I yelled feeling desperate. I already knew the answer, but I hoped he would come to his senses. Stupid plan, he does not have common sense.
“I am doing what I should have done since the beginning. Completing the mating process with my new Luna.”
He tied my wrists together with his belt and straddled me. I could not move this time. I felt panic take over me as I squirmed under his grasp. No, this cannot happen. It cannot end like this.
He lowered his upper body and his teeth went to the crook of my neck. I closed my eyes waiting for the worst. At least if her marks me, it will hurt him when I die.
I opened my eyes when I heard the bang of the door being shattered. Immediately, Alexander’s weight was taken off me.
“I am sorry Alpha, but you had the mind link shut off!” the coward, Alexander’s third in command yelled.
“About damn time!” I yelled.
I sat on the bed to see Alexander lying on the floor with my brother on top of him, punching him repeatedly. I was mesmerized. What a beautiful sight. All the colorful sunsets of the history held no opportunity against the sight of that bastard’s blood being splattered around the floor every time a punch landed on his face.
Alexander shifted in his huge wolf and squared up growling threateningly at my brother. My brother was getting ready to shift as well. But, two other men barged into the room. The tallest more buff one was carrying heavy-looking silver chains, which he threw at Alexander. “Aw. You take away my fun,” my brother said.
The man rolled his eyes and walked up to Alexander. “I am member of the Werewolf Council, Anthony Maddox. By petition of Alpha Alexander Jones, you, Alexander Hunter, are under investigation for the kidnapping and assault of Beta of the Silver Fang Pack Jolene Amores and future Beta Aiden Wolf. I suggest you cooperate. Now shift back!”
Alexander stopped struggling and shifted back. I looked away, not wanting to see more than I should.
“I will fully cooperate if you agree to keep this whole matter classified to outsiders,” said Alexander.
“Good. First, get your Beta Adam here,” the man called Anthony said.
Alexander shook his head and began talking. “He is under investigation for trea-”
Anthony growled. “Did I ask? Get him in here!” His voice was severe and full of authority. It had everyone in the room showing their necks in submission. Yes, the two Alphas and I actually submitted to this guy. How powerful is he?
Alexander could barely move. Anthony threw some clothes from the closet to Alexander and my brother removed his chain momentarily to allow him to dress up. Once completely dressed, Anthony secured the chains around his neck, wrists, and ankles.
Beta Adam walked into the room followed by two men, which stood by the door probably wondering what was happening.
Anthony pulled out a rolled piece of paper from his coat and gave it to Adam.
“The council hereby appoints you as temporary Alpha of the Blood River Pack while Alpha Alexander Hunter is under investigation,” said Anthony.
“Thank you so much,” said Adam. “Please, let me help you with the prisoner, just in case.”
One girl entered the room and gave a needle to Adam. He gave Alexander the painful wolfsbane shot. Adam turned to me and winked. I smirked knowing exactly what he was doing.
Alexander hissed and fell on his knees. I actually saw tears rolling down his cheeks. Good, that bullshit shot hurts like a motherfucker.
“Mmm could someone like help me out here?” I said extending my still tied arms. I was on the bed on my knees with my hands restrained while all the action happened.
My brother ran to my side and freed me from the evil belt. “Sorry, I forgot, sis.”
“You forgot? Worst rescue ever,” I said rolling my eyes.
“Hey! I made a great entrance. Didn’t I?”
Anthony walked up to us pulling Alexander by his chains like a dog. “I am glad we got here in time. I will deal with the prisoner. It is important to take him out of his territory as soon as possible.”
I must admit the whole chained, beaten up, busted lip and nose style looks great on him.
“Will you be okay by your own?” my brother asked.
“The back up I requested is here. We will be fine. I will let a another member of the council to collect evidence with you. Good luck. Also, please respect the deal we made with Alpha Hunter. Not one word about this until the trial.”

Only Adam, my brother and I remained in the room as everyone else had left.
Finally everything sank in and I broke down crying in my brother’s arms. This hell was finally over, and I am alive. “How did you know?” I asked between sobs.
“After you mindlinked me I practically went crazy trying to figure out what had happened. I tried to call the Wild Moon Pack but nobody answered me. I could not leave our pack easily because we are having a huge rogue problem right now, but that is a topic for another day. So, I requested an audience with the council and they sent some people to help the pack deal with the rogues and to come with me whenever your location was discovered.”
“You still have not answered the question,” I said. I was getting impatient to know who had contacted him. Had it been Lancelot? Could he see how much I was suffering that day?
“Oh right. Two days ago, Luna Marilyn called me saying that she had seem a girl that smelt like my pack members and seemed to be in trouble. Her exacts words were: I know when a girl is faking a smile, and that girl I saw needs help, but my mate would not believe me, so I had to wait until he was not around.” Alex had been talking so fast that he had to stop to catch his breath. “Then, I called Beta Adam and he told me everything about the kidnappings and how Alexander had gone insane.”
“Oh, I see.” I was feeling disappointed. I expected my love to rescue me like in the fairy tales and movies. I shrugged the negative thoughts off. He has been suffering as well. Everything will be alright once we get back together.
“It took us some time to sneak past the guards, so they did not alerted their Alpha. We did not want him snapping and taking hostages or something.”
“Thank you Alex. I love you.” I hugged my brother.
“Jolene!” Abigail yelled as she ran into the room. I pulled away and thanked the girl who had helped me so much.
“How are you? Did he hurt you?” she asked, inspecting me to check that I was not missing a limb.
“I am good now,” I said honestly.
“Your wounds have healed nicely. That medicine from the old pack was truly miraculous.”
I smiled. “Thank you so much for everything.”
“It was nothing really,” Abigail said. She ran toward her mate jumped into his arms.”Adam! I missed you so much.”
I turned to my brother. “Let’s go get my kid,” I said.
I heard my son’s voice. “Mom?”
I turned to see Aiden coming into the room. Adam nodded at the man who had escorted Aiden and he bowed and left.
I ran to my son and hugged him tightly. When I pulled away, I put one hand by each side of his face. “Are you okay?” I stared at him. Surprisingly, he looked better than the last time I saw him.
He gave me a side smile. “They had not injected me the wolfsbane when everything went down, so my wolf is almost back and my wounds are healing fast. More importantly, how are you, mom?”
“I am not feeling bad. My body does not hurt. It just feels as if I was numb but it is okay.”

Adam got us our phones, wallets and my car keys back. Aiden also requested to get his backpack back and Adam had someone bring it to us. I thanked the new Alpha couple profusely for everything they had done for me and mentally apologized for the offensive nicknames.
Alex, Aiden and I got into my car. Alex was driving while Aiden and I sat in the back seat. I insisted on going directly to Lancelot’s house, which was two hours away. I cannot stand being away from him any longer.
