Chapter 6

“Ready?” A low growl made me shoot my head towards the kitchen door. I stood to my feet and combed my fingers through my hair. Josh looked beyond pissed, I don’t blame him. I turned to see Chris checking my mate out and I couldn’t help but laugh.
I waved goodbye to them and walked with Josh. He smelt like pine and I smiled. His hair was carefully styled into a quiff and he looked stunning in his black shirt and low cut jeans, I could see the band of his boxers under them.
“I’m sorry I was gone all day- did you get my note?” He asked, his fingers brushed some hair behind my face. Slowly I nodded. “It was nice.”
“So, miss me already?” He raised an eyebrow and waited for my reply. I scrunched my nose as I smiled widely, and said “No.”
“Not so shy today?” He asked with a smile. Slowly I nodded.
“I’m upset with you, ya know?” He said, into my hair making it muffled. I shot my head upwards to meet his gave and raised an eyebrow.
“Why?” He squeezed me tighter and shook his head. “You were watching a movie with another guy.” I rolled my eyes and pushed him away, I’m pretty sure we had hugged enough.
“Really? He’s gay. Look at him he’s like drooling over you.” I growled lightly at Chris and he raised his arms in defeat. “Sorry the man’s attractive.”
Josh took me by my waist and lead me towards the front door. “Still mad.” He stated as we walked towards a silver camero.
He opened the door for me, and I gladly took the offer. It’s not everyday a man will open the door for you, most of them are too worried about their ego.
Josh was actually sweeter than I thought, or maybe it’s just because I’m his mate. Either way I do like it, I feel like I’m actually worth something other than sex. I hope that’s not what he’s after.
I cringed at the thought, he wouldn’t do that would he? Is this just an act, I mean I’ve read stories about stuff like that. A shiver ran down my spine when Josh’s door was shut, I hadn’t noticed he shut mine.
He started the engine, and country music was playing softly. Funny, he seemed like a guy that would listen to rock or rap, or nothing at all. He quickly shut it off and sighed, backing out of the rather long driveway.
The house was beautiful, a modern looking house, but rather a mansion. I always wondered how packs afforded their houses, but usually figured they built them.
My eyes remained on Josh’s face. He would give clueless expressions to other drivers and when he thought to himself. It was actually quite funny. Somehow or another I ended up staring at his lips.
They had felt so heavenly against mine, and was my first real kiss. I wouldn’t let him know that though, his ego would jump through the roof. If Barter and his friends didn’t kiss me, Josh would have been my first. I continued to think silently to myself and began to realize I wouldn’t be Josh’s first at anything. I guess it’s sort of good, but then again it makes me upset.
I wasn’t there soon enough. It’s not my fault though, I mean I was under age and completely stupid.
My stomach growled, and interrupted my thoughts. I quickly placed a hand on my stomach and groaned, flopping my head back onto the seat. Street lights passed by rather quickly.
We had to have been in the car for ten minutes before Josh spoke up.
“What’s your favorite color?” He asked, turning to look at me at a very busy stop light. I didn’t give the question any thought.
“Blue, why?”
“I want to get to know you.” He stated sharply, turning his eyes back to the road. Gosh he smiles a lot, but it’s cute. I groaned at my own thought and banged my head against the wall.
Fifty questions here we go.
Josh: “favorite movie?”
Janet: ” I Am Sam. You?”
Josh: “easy, The Godfather”
Janet: “okay, favorite food?”
Josh: “defiantly spegettii”
Janet: “I like pizza, but that’s okay I guess.”
Josh: “does this bother you?”
Josh light placed his palm on my thigh and I leaned against the window. Shaking my head no, although it did feel strange. A new strange, not the bad strange is that makes sense. His hand was warm, and sparks ran through my body.
Janet: “this has been killing me, but how old are you.”
Josh: “21. Your 18 correct?”
Janet: “yeah, you gonna buy me some beer?” I joked, Josh lightly laughed and rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, sure I’ll think about it.”
I sucked on my bottom lip and relaxed back into the car seat. They were warm, and cozy, but Josh’s arms were cozier. Crossing my arms over my chest I pressed my head against the window and closed my eyes.
~~~
“Janet…” Josh’s voice cooed. My eyes fluttered open and met his blue one’s. He grinned lightly and continued to shake my shoulder gently. I didn’t mean to fall asleep. I feel completely guilty now and I pouted my lip out.
“Sorry” I mumbled, unbuckling my seatbelt and stepping out of the car, Josh had held my door open for me again. He ran his thumb just under my bottom lip and smirked. Did my lip tremble at his touch? I think it did! Oh god!
We walked towards a small building with a glowing LED sign that said Bernie’s. It was the size of a cabin maybe, and was designed to look old like western old. The exterior had large window’s decorated with stickers and a A+ from some health inspector. Thank god he didn’t bring me to someone’s home, that would have been awkward.
Stepping inside I instantly felt warmer. I almost forgot how cold it was until we went into the restaurant. It wasn’t as full as I had expected it to be, only older couples and some teenagers. There was a family in the back corner, and I couldn’t help but listen to a baby cry.
Ever since I was little I’ve wanted a baby. Just to love it and take care of it, and watch it grow. I wouldn’t care if it was girl or boy. It’s just every girl’s dream, to have a child. I shook the thought away, I have years to come to have one. I’m not changing my life any time soon.
A young woman greeted us as we walked in. Her hair was a light brown, and her eyes were brown with specs of yellow. She had a birthmark on her cheek and her hair was tied back showing off her beautiful features. She was dressed modest in some slacks and a blouse, thank god.
She led us to a table near a window, the curtains were a white satin fabric. I inhaled the smokey smell and smiled, instantly wanting food inside me. I mean I hadn’t eaten at all today. There were horse shoes, and animal heads hanging about the walls, along with old vintage collectors items.
“Do you have Coke?” I asked with a smile, the woman nodded and jotted down on her notebook before disappearing back into the back.
Josh folded his hands together and pressed his chin to them. “I hope you slept enough, because your going to have to stay up a little late.” He simply stated.
What does he mean?
“No, I don’t plan on having sex with you or anything like that.” He said softly, and smirk on his face. I know he wanted to add something but he held back. I know exactly what he wanted to say.
“You look confused.” He stated. I stared into his eyes before nodded, he was correct I was beyond confused. What the hell was he talking about?
“Good. Don’t worry, I think you’ll enjoy it.” He glanced up at the waiter who showed up with our drinks, Josh had ordered a sprite. The woman smiled and stood there for a minute, I swear to god if she’s checking him out I will-
“Were not ready to order yet, sorry.” Josh blurted and the girl turned on her heels and walked away. That was that, thank god.
I stared at the menu and re-read it all over a hundred times I swear. Everything sounded good, so I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted. Salad was on the menu but I didn’t want to seem like that kind of girl.
“The bacon burgers are really good, so are the steak and potatoes.” He grinned, and I looked at him. Had he been here this many times? Wow. The drive was pretty long I don’t see how he can do it.
“I’ll just go with the bacon burger.” I stated. Taking a sip of my Coke I placed the menu down and twiddled with my fingers.
“What were you doing today?” I asked, avoiding any eye contact. I’ve always wanted to know what alpha’s do when they leave. I was never allowed to know.
“Just a search. Patrolling the borders and then I had to lead training.” He said it casually, I only nodded the slightest bit.
“I need some of that.” I stated, now it was Josh’s turn to look stupid. He looked very adorable doing it though. “Training I mean.”
“Okay, I’ll get that set up when we get back.”
“Your not mad at me because of Chris are you?” I blinked, and Josh shook his head.
“There’s a difference between mad and upset. No, I’m not mad at you, I’m sort of upset. Chris and you were under the blankets together, and I knew was gay and all but it still upset my…you know.”
I nodded quietly, I know he was talking about his wolf. There are humans in the shop that he doesn’t want over hearing our conversation.
I sucked on my bottom lip and blew out a deep breath. The smell of barbecue hit me like a rock to the head and I almost ate it through my nose. Josh placed his hand over my own that was sitting on the table and rubbed circled with his thumb.
“You used to have your nose pierced?” He asked abruptly. With my free hand I ran it across the tiny hole. He was really staring at my face and my cheeks turned red.
“Yeah, well I did. It closed up though.”
I pushed hair away from my face and sighed lightly. His eyes traveled the features of my face still grinning.
“Do you want to get it re pierced?” He grinned and I shook my head no. Hell that shit hurts too bad. I’d rather have my insides ripped out.
“No, it will never do, thanks to my super-fast healing. ” I sucked on my bottom lip again and looked to my lap. Time like these I need a phone to act like I’ve gotten a text.
Moments later the waitress came and brought us food. How the hell did she already get what I wanted. I shot Josh a glare and he held up his hands in defeat. The god damn waitress is a werewolf and the twat mind linked her.
She sat a steaming beacon burger stuffed with cheese and other goodies I front of me, along with a very large stack of fries. Josh had a piece of steak sat In front of him with a big scoop of potatoes.
We dug into our food as soon as the waitress left the table. The food tasted wonderful, I enjoyed every last bit of it.
“So, where are we going now?” I asked, and was wrapped into his arms. When we had stepped outside I was surrounded in the cool weather. Since I’m a werewolf, and my body temapture is 120° it wasn’t exactly cold, it was just cool. I could feel goosebumps on my arms though.
Josh turned us away from the parking lot, and led us towards the wooded area. I sulk back and paused. Why weren’t we going to the car? Oh god he’s taking me back. No, no, no, no, no!
“Relax. Were just going for a walk, alright?” He reached his hand out, and took mine inside his. He can read me, just great. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding in.
It had to be at least eight, the sun had already set and it was starting to get dark. That wasn’t a problem for us though, since we aren’t exactly human. Trees hung over head, and a old dirt road traveled out towards a clearing. Rocks decorated the sides, and vines traveled up some of the older trees. I inhaled the scent and sighed.
“You were here earlier?” I asked, looking up at Josh who was now looking down at me. He slowly nodded, and smiled. He smelt just like these woods, and it smelt amazing. His scent was marked on a tree or two, along with a tuft of black fur. I extended my free hand and brushed it against some of the plants.
We walked for awhile, and soon the trail ended and expanded to an open field. In the center was a crystal clear pond, and a dock decorated with white Christmas lights and flowers sprouted where the dock began. It was beautiful, something from some fancy movie.
Laying at the end of the dock was a blanket, I followed Josh to it. He plopped down on the blanket and patted the spot next to him.
Moonlight was reflected on the water, and every now and then a small fish jumped out of its sleep, causing ripples.
I shot my head towards Josh, who was playing with his fingers. “It’s cheesy, I know, but I brought you out here to talk…and there’s this…meteor shower.” He smiled, looking at the clear sky.
His blue eyes were beautiful. They reminded me of the ocean, and the pictures I’ve seen of it. They were so clear, almost like the blue of coral.
His finger brushed hair behind my ear, and his eyes fell to my lips. “Do you like it?” He asked, his breathing was warm and he had gotten closer. I smiled, leaning closer to him. Of course I like it. Anything with him I liked, but I don’t know. I don’t know how long this calm will last.
My lips parted slight, and Josh closed the space between us. His lips pressed against mine lightly. We broke apart due to the fact that we had no breath left.
I sucked on my lip. What was I supposed to do now? Did I want to run away and hide? No, I couldn’t do that.
“Are you okay with that?” He asked, never once taking his eyes off of me. I nodded my head yes, and something inside me pushed me to kiss him again.
And that’s what I did.
Our kiss was filled with passion, and need. A need to feel that each other was there for the other. His lips molded against mine. I lightly fell backwards, and Josh had me pinned under him. He trailed soft kisses down my jawline.
“Josh…” I trailed off, his lips were pressed against my neck and I trembled. I haven’t even know the guy for a week and now he’s over here sucking on my neck, and here I am letting him.
Would it be bad if I wanted him to mark me already? My fingers curled into fists against his back as he pulled me closer. Funny how a simple kiss turned into him giving me hickeys on my neck. Since I wasn’t exactly ready for him to mark me, I guess that was the next best thing.
He broke away from me and gave me a sheepish grin as if looked through me. Josh laid on his back and pointed out some of the meteor shower. I curled up against him, and pressed my head against his chest.
We made small talk, about what we liked and disliked.
“I like cappuccino, while my sister likes macchiato…” I paused about 1 sec when mentioned my sister, “Did I ever mentioned I have a twin sister?” I turned to him almost whispering.
Josh was looking at the sky and pointed “The meteor shower, here we go!” Well, I’ll just assumed he didn’t’ heard that.
It was comfortable to looking at the skying without thinking anything, after awhile my eyes got heavy. I fell into a blissful sleep, listening to the beating of his heart.
