Sarah shoved open her bedroom door. It slammed hard against the wall. Erin all but jumped out of Sarah’s bedroom window. “HOOOLY HELLLOOO!” Erin shrieked. She flung a slice of pizza into the air. Luckily the slice managed to land back onto its paper plate and not on Sarah’s beautiful rose petal pink bedspread. Sarah threw her keys and phone down onto the floor. She stormed over to her closet and flung open the doors. Immediately she began to tear through her dresses. “Someone’s in a mood,” Erin said. She was trying to make light of the situation. “Are you a hurricane? If so, can you please blow away? I want my friend Sarah back.” Sarah let out a high-pitched, manic laugh. She spun to face Erin. “Sorry. I’m really mad right now.” Erin took a bite of her pizza. She held out a plate with a slice on it for Sarah. “Maybe you should eat something, cranky.” Sarah let out a dramatic sigh. She dropped to her knees and put her hands over her face. Her tears were threatening to surface. She squeezed her eyes closed, willing the emotions away. After a minute, she opened her eyes and smiled at Erin. “Okay. I’m good now.” Erin nodded her head as she chewed. She had one eyebrow raised with a questioning look. “I’m NOT gonna ask,” Erin said, chewing with her mouth open. She swallowed loudly. “I am super curious. But I am also SO not in the mood for drama. Let’s just chill out, okay?”Sarah picked up the slice of pizza off the paper plate. “Thanks. I really needed this.” She took a delicious bite of the cheese pizza. She hadn’t realized how hungry she’d gotten. There was a scratching sound at her bedroom door. “NO TRASH!” Sarah yelled. She heard the dog whimper sadly and trot away down the hall. She met Erin’s gaze. “He just wants the pizza,” she said simply.Erin made an ‘OK’ gesture with her hand and took another bite of her slice. Sarah spun back around and began to inspect three of her favorite dresses. “So I have a date tonight,” she said. Erin set down her pizza. “Really? With who?” Sarah whirled around. “It’s with whom.” She grabbed up one of the dresses that had dropped off its hanger. It was a bright red, very revealing dress. She’d never had the guts to wear it. But now…she smiled wickedly. “Okay, Nerd!” Erin said, laughing. She’d polished off her pizza slice and slapped another onto her plate. But as she raised the pizza to her mouth, her hands froze halfway. “Wait. It’s not with? It can’t be????”Sarah took a chewy bite of her pizza as she studied the dress on the hanger. “Oh yes. My date tonight is with Kurl.” She narrowed her eyes and ran her finger down the sexy dress. “And I want to make sure his eyes stay popped out of his head the entire night.” She heard Erin cough behind her. “Look, uh, Sarah. I thought we already talked about Kurl.”Sarah whirled around. “Yes. We did talk. And it’s fine. I heard your concerns. But I like Kurl. He deserves a chance. Besides, we’ll be at the Red Grill. It’s perfectly crowded and safe.” Now finished with her pizza, Sarah grabbed her phone up from the floor. She quickly texted Kurl back.~Can’t wait to see you! xoxo She sent him her address. Almost immediately, Kurl responded back with another red devil emoji. Good, Sarah thought. This red dress is fit to entertain the devil, himself.
