When we walk to the living room of the pack house, we find Alpha Eric, his Beta and Gamma waiting for us.
Alpha Eric steps toward Roslyn and does the most unexpected thing–he extends his hand and greets Roslyn cordially. Roslyn and I are completely taken aback by his gesture. What has gotten into him?3
To keep the atmosphere calm and peaceful, Roslyn shakes his hand and greets him.
When we are all finished with greeting each other, Alpha Eric suggests, “Let’s sit.”
Once we are settled, Alpha Eric questions, “How are Katherine and Gale doing?”
“They’re doing fine,” Roslyn answers.
There’s silence before Alpha Eric says, “I want to apologize for what Katherine had to go through and what you had to go through as her friend. I also apologize for my behaviour. What happened happened so suddenly that I didn’t have time to think things through. It’s only when you took away Katherine and Gale that I realised that your anger and behaviour were justified. I would’ve reacted the same way. So, I’m sorry.”
Alpha Eric’s eyes tell us that he’s genuinely sorry for what happened last time.
“Can I ask you something?” Roslyn says. Alpha Eric nods. “Judging by the words that you’ve just spoken, it seems as if you’re a changed man. How did you change in very little time?”
“I wasn’t myself when we met last time. My thoughts were clouded with anger. And so, I couldn’t think properly. It’s only as time passed that I realised how right you were and how wrong I was. The person sitting here right in front of you is the real Alpha Eric.”
Alpha Eric’s speech is full of honesty that I can’t help but be impressed by him admitting that he was wrong. Very few Alphas do that. I look at Roslyn and she feels the same way.3
“I’m also sorry for the way I behaved last time,” Roslyn apologizes. “The matter was so serious that I was angry and hurt, and I couldn’t keep my emotions in control.”
Alpha Eric smiles kindly and says, “Let’s leave the past behind and start afresh.”
“Before we can start afresh, I want to tell you why we’re here,” Roslyn says as she gestures to Audrey and me. “We want you to train your female members of the pack so that no one has to go through what Katherine did.” And then she goes on to share her vision.1
There’s a moment of silence before Alpha Eric says, “Okay.”
Roslyn and I whip our heads to look at each other to ask with our eyes whether what we heard was correct or not.
Roslyn looks back at Alpha Eric and asks, “So, you’re okay with women training?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” Alpha Eric looks at the expression on my and Roslyn’s face and asks, “You think I’m a sexist?”5
Now, how to answer that question?
“We assumed you were but after what you said, we are pleased to know that you’re a feminist,” Roslyn replies.89
“Roslyn, I support your vision,” Alpha Eric says. “I’m really proud of what you guys are doing and I really hope that this mission of empowering women becomes a success.”
“Thank you.”
“If you need anything then you know my number,” Alpha Eric offers.
When all the pleasantries are done, we say our goodbyes and the three leaders are kind enough to accompany us to the car. Roslyn, Audrey and I get inside and we drive off.
“That went well,” I comment after a few minutes of our journey.
“I thought that we would’ve to fight them but I never thought that they would have the same opinion as me,” remarks Roslyn.
“So, what now?” Audrey asks from the backseat.
Roslyn tells us, “There’s another pack we can approach. Are you guys in for it?”
“Yeah,” Audrey and I reply simultaneously.
“Okay, let’s go!” Roslyn exclaims enthusiastically.
After reaching the pack mentioned by Roslyn, we get out of the car. We approach this pack as we approached the previous one. We sat with the leaders and Roslyn told them about the vision. We expected them to fully support us as they seemed friendly and polite. But it came as a shock to us when they told us that they were totally against the idea.
“But why?” I question.
“Because women don’t belong in the battle ground but in a domestic setup,” the Alpha answers.
The Alpha is in his thirties so such a conservative comment coming from a young mind is upsetting.
“Which century were you born in?” Roslyn says sarcastically.1
“Are you mocking me, Alpha Roslyn?” Alpha has turned red as his anger is about the emerge anytime now.
“Of course!” Roslyn exclaims.
“Leave,” he orders as he looks at the three of us, barely able to contain his anger.
“Calm down, Alpha,” Roslyn starts. “Why don’t we make a deal?”
“I’m not interested in making deals with a she-wolf,” he says.1
“I’m not just a she-wolf, I’m an Alpha too.”
“I don’t care. Leave. Now. Or we will be forced to make you guys leave,” he puts emphasis on his words.
“We’re not going anywhere until you agree to make a deal with us,” I say bravely.4
The Alpha casts a glance at his Beta and the Beta starts approaching me. Before he can manhandle me, I kick him and he goes flying to the wall.6
All the three male leaders are left shocked at what just happened. They hadn’t expected such strength from a female.
Roslyn gives them a proud smile, crosses her arms and says, “Here’s the deal. We are challenging you for a combat. You are going to choose one of us to be your opponent. But there’s a condition, if you choose to fight the Alpha then you’ll have to send your Alpha and so on. If we win, then you will train the female members of your pack. If you win then you can continue to run your pack as you like. Deal?”7
Alpha nods.

The leaders of the pack take us to the place where they train their men. Once we reach there, Alpha faces Roslyn and says, “So, you really want to fight.”
“Yes. I’m willing to fight for a good cause,” she replies instantly.
“Okay. So, I choose you as my opponent.”2
“Very well.”
The Alpha and Roslyn stand in the centre of the ground and get ready with their fight stance while all the people present gather around them.
“This is your last chance. You can leave now before I rightfully show you where women truly belong,” Alpha says.16
Roslyn gives out a short laugh and says, “I won’t leave until I show you where women truly belong.”
The Alpha is overconfident that he would easily defeat Roslyn since she’s a woman. But he doesn’t know what’s in store for him. I would love to see Roslyn break his confidence and his ego.
“On the count of three. One, two, three!” The Alpha announces.
The fight starts with the Alpha aiming for Roslyn’s abdomen but she blocks his punch. And in a swift move, she lifts her leg and kicks him, which makes him stumble a few steps back. Everyone is surprised by Roslyn. When the Alpha gains his balance, the fight resumes.
