Chapter 16

“Will someone just please explain to me, what’s going on?”

“Explain what?”

“What those signs meant. What that entire message meant.” Alexis yelled frustrated from the lack of answers.

“We’re going to have to explain it to the Alpha, so why don’t you wait until then” Jerry said shutting her up. He turned towards me raising his eyebrows.

‘You gonna tell them?’ I shook my head. Jerry sighed looking ahead. Five minutes later we got to the Pack house and headed straight to the Alpha’s office. Jerry knocked on the door waiting for two seconds before entering.

There were around six men in the room sitting around a table excluding the Alpha and Isaac.

“You can’t just barge in here!” Isaac spoke up.

“It’s important” was all Jerry said. The Alpha growled fiercely at his disrespect.

“Alpha please, it’s important” I spoke up. His eyes snapped towards me.

“We got a message. It’s important that you know.” Alexis explained. Within seconds the room cleared and only the five of us remained.

“Explain” Isaac said as the Alpha sat behind his desk. Jerry and Alexis instantly turned their heads towards me. I rolled my eyes before speaking up.

“We were out celebrating Jerry’s birthday. On our way back we sensed danger. When we checked there was nothing there. Only a message written in blood. Who’s? We’re not sure.”

“What did it say?” Isaac asked sitting on the couch.

“We found you. You can run but you can’t hide” Jerry answered. Isaac looked down, eyebrows furrowed.

“Anything else?”

“There were some signs” Alexis spoke up. I looked at Jerry who just blinked re-assuringly. The only reason we were telling the Alpha is because this message could be a threat to the whole pack. I wasn’t going to risk hurting the Pack for my own selfish reasons.

“What kind of signs?” he asked looking at her.

“There was a pile of mud. A puddle of water. A burning leaf and a diamond carved into the soil.” She answered.

“A diamond?” Chances eyes glazed over before he spoke again. “Draw it for us” Alexis stepped forward grabbing a pen from the desk before sketching down the diamond shape. We all stood in silence while the Alpha observed it.

Isaac’s eyes glazed over. “It’s the sign for wind.” I stood in a deep thought for a while “Fire. Water. Wind and…and Earth. The last one’s earth. It’s the four elements.” I gripped Jerry’s hand.

“Have you got an elementals in your Pack?” Jerry asked coolly.

“Not that I know of” He turned towards Alpha who was staring – more like glaring – at my hand. I instantly released Jerry’s hand. His eyes locked with mine before moving to Isaac’s. He shook his head.

“Doesn’t matter. We’ll figure it out.” Isaac said. “You guys go get some sleep. It’s getting late. Don’t worry about any of this. It’ll get sorted by tomorrow”

With that said we all left.

“You’ll be fine” Jerry assured.

“I hope so” I sighed walking into my classroom waving goodbye to Jerry. I’ve been ever so paranoid since yesterday. I feel like the smallest of things will expose me. I sat down at my usual seat and prepared for the lesson.

After what felt like forever the lesson finished and lunch approached. I met Jerry outside his classroom before making our way to the canteen. We stuck out like sore thumbs in the corridors packed with little year seveners and eighters, in their professional uniforms.

“I feel like something bad is going to happen” I admitted to Jerry.

“Why?”

“I don’t know, I just have this gut feeling” I sat down at a free table not feeling hungry. Jerry followed.

“Everything’ll be fine. Trust me” Jerry smiled. I responded with one of my own.

“Hey gurrllls” Alexis sat next to us placing her tray on the table.

“I’m not a girl” Jerry pointed out factually.

“Sure” Jerry frowned. Smiling in amusement I was about to make a remark but was cut short when a body crashed into the window near us.

“What th-” Jerry was cut off by another crash. Following the growing crowd, we headed over to where the commotion was happening. Near the main entrance.

“Step forward and I’ll snap her neck” A roughed up looking man held onto a girl no older than twelve. Her face was tear stained as she whimpered in his arms.

“Please let her go” A girl around my age begged. She looked very similar to the captive girl.

‘She’s probably her sister’ My wolf said.

“Who are they?” I whispered to Jerry. They smelt bad. Really bad.

“Rogues” he whispered back. I could have guessed but I wasn’t sure, since I’ve never encountered a rogue before.

“Why can I hear whispering?!” A rogue barked. There were around eight of them huddled together.

“Because you have ears” I answered back. All eight heads snapped towards me along with the heads of the students.

“What the fuck d’you say?” He yelled snarling at me.

‘Let me handle this. I can use my powers.’ I mind-linked Jerry. He growled but let me be. The thing I would never do is misuse my powers, but if I needed to use my powers to save a life, I wouldn’t think twice before doing so. Memory control is also one of my powers. This is the one power I use very rarely. I could have easily have used it when Isaac and the Alpha spoke of the elementals, but I didn’t. The only reason I was going to use memory control was because I was in a public place. The news of me being an elemental would spread like wild-fire and God know’s how many people will find out. Chances are, people who are not from the Moon Dweller Pack will also find out, rather quickly. I know this secret is bound to come out one day, but when it does I want it to be in an enclosed area where I can explain to everyone without any outsiders to finding out.

I stepped out of the circle which had formed and in-front of the Rogue.

“Let the kid go” I growled.

“Or what?” He laughed in my face. “You gonna hurt me?”

“Don’t test me” From the corner of my eye I saw Isaac and the Alpha run towards us.

“Stop!” The Rogue screamed looking at the Alpha. “I swear I’ll kill her”. The Alpha continued.

“Stop” I asked lifting my hand. He growled. “Please!” He stopped.

“You too. Move back.” He said looking at me.

“Or what?” I mocked. He lifted his arm to attack but stopped midway.

“What the hell!” He tried to move his arm – which was out above his head – but couldn’t. Despite several futile attempts he failed. After a while he instead of trying to attack me, he began to try to pull his arm back to himself again. I let my powers free and his arm flew back, whacking him straight in the face.

“How…did you…?” He looked dumbfounded. Just like everyone else. The seven other rogues moved forward but ended up with the same fate.

“Let. Us. Go” They screamed trying to break free.

“How about you let the kid go first?” I compromised.

“I’ll let her go, If you let us leave the territory” I nodded. He pushed the girl towards me and she fell straight in my arms.

“Alpha” I addressed motioning for him to step forward.

“What?! No. You said we would be let out of the territory!” The rogue accused.

“Yes, I did” I agreed. “But, I never said in one piece” I shrugged, and I swear I saw the Alpha’s lip quirk upwards, ever so slightly. I took a step back letting my powers loose allowing the Rogues to move again. Before they could run away, they were surrounded.

After a fight which was easily and victoriously won by the Moon Dweller pack the bodies of the Rogues were dumped in a pile. Everyone’s eyes snapped towards me.

“What the hell was that?” Isaac snapped.

“I’ll explain. Jerry come with me” I took Jerry’s hand and stood in-front of the crowd.

“I’ll explain but I need you all to look at me” And they did. They froze. Literally.

“I am so sorry” With that I erased their memory of the previous event.
