Harrison
What the hell was she thinking?! Wait a minute, what the hell was I thinking when I had accused her? Rather she overheard or not, I never meant what I said. It was more out of anger. Even though that’s no excuse. Now she’s gone. I KNEW she didn’t want to go back with them and knew she was lying as she said all she just said by the way she was looking at us, especially me. Yet I just stood there.
“Why the hell did you let her leave?!” My wolf demanded from me.
“Shut the hell up! I’m trying to think of how to get her.” I snap back at him before tuning him out.
I’m quickly snapped back into the present after feeling a hard and painful blow to the side of my head. I see who it was from, my sister and could tell by the look on her face she was really upset.
“You fucking asshole! Why did you let her leave? You know what they will do to her!” She yells.
“I know, but….” I started before she interrupted me.
She pauses for a moment while holding up her hand and begins shaking her head ‘no’ before continuing. “I can’t even look at you right now.” She starts holding back tears. “Maybe you’re right, the Moon Goddess had made a mistake in giving you a fucking mate. You don’t deserve one, ESPECIALLY her.” She chokes out the last part before crying harder than I’ve seen her cry since mom’s death and running away as Fred looks disappointed in me too.
“Fred..” I started but he stopped me.
“Harrison, I have known you for almost all my life. I’ve stood by you and have watched you become a great Alpha. I’ve always thought you’d be a great King one day. But then you go and do what you just did. Have you forgotten what a real Alpha King does? You are supposed to protect our kind as well as others. You represent us and now, for the first time of my life, I don’t know who you are. You seriously need to let go of the past and realize that you fought for your mother, just as she did for you that night and what happened was NOT your fault. The only thing you’ve ever done that you fucked up so badly and that is entirely your fault, was letting them take our Luna. YOUR mate!” He says the last part with disappointment before leaving to catch up with my sister.
My god she’s right. I don’t deserve Avery. I don’t deserve to be the Alpha King either.
Fuck me!! I need to get her back. I don’t have a lot of my pack members around as some are doing some surveillance while the rest of them are around the perimeter of our territory and they can’t leave their posts since we can’t deal with the risk of any rogues or other enemies trespassing while trying to save my mate, so that left me to going by myself. Which was the best anyways. So I make my way into the woods and can smell her scent still. Which meant that they can’t be too far ahead. Right away, I undressed and carried my clothes with my teeth after I shifted into my wolf and began sprinting, following her scent.
A couple of hours later, I finally followed it to a two story rustic looking house. I knew it was the right place from not just how strong her scent was but also after I saw her upstairs in a room. She looked really beautiful.
I quickly shifted back into my human form and put my clothes back on. Then I heard rustling of some leaves on the ground behind me and I quickly turned around to find Rachael and Fred both standing there looking at me, trying to catch their breaths.
“What the hell are you guys doing here?” I whisper yell.
“There’s no way in hell we were gonna let you have all the fun. So we left the students with Delta while Fred and I came to help you out.” She tells me.
Then right before I was able to say anything else, we quickly turn and look to see a couple of Stewart’s pack members come walking outside and start smoking some cigarettes while talking. I turn back to Rachael and Fred.
“I’m gonna climb my way up to Avery’s room.” I tell them.
“How do you know which one is hers?” Fred questions.
“Right up there.” I tell him while pointing at her window.
“Alright. Well, we’ll cover you.” Rachael whisper yells back to me.
I nod my head and then as soon as I looked back at the two men that were smoking, they were luckily gone. I’m taking this as a sign.
So I quickly run up to the house and start climbing up the the drain pipe that’s off to the side of where her window is.
As soon as I get to the window, I don’t see her. I hold on with my right hand onto the pipe while trying to reach over with my left to see if the window is unlocked. In which it luckily was. I guess the Moon Goddess is helping me out.
I start climbing through while trying to be quiet and once I got in, I started looking around for her as I could smell her scent even more. Then I look over towards the bathroom door as it opens up and I see her walking out with her hair wet and wearing a towel.
This was it. Now or never.
“Avery?” I said.
