Narrator’s pov
–
The aftermath of a storm leaves everything a mess, trees are uprooted and rooftops were tossed to the ground, dented from bashing into the side of a light post
We can never be ready for the destruction of our life and our home. Just as how we can never be ready to put it back together that same second
When everything in crumbling around us, we stand tall and fight. Whether physically or mentally, we fight until we make it out.
There’s still life ahead of us, some of us hate the fact that we’re still breathing while others cry to get the chance to breathe
But our story ends when we stop trying.
Luna’s eyes glanced down at her her mother, the woman’s skin so pale and clammy mixed with the drenching water filling at her gaping mouth and filling her lungs. She was already gone but the water filling in her body from the rain was just another nail in a coffin.
Her fingers were lifeless and the skin felt so tender, so stiff in the moment. Luna’s fingers were still intertwined with the woman’s, feeling the soft skin turn into what felt like cardboard
She was still sitting on the ground where she had ended the woman’s life, the dark patch of grass around them reminded her of the fact that she had strike her mother with lightning, resulting in her death
The rain continued to bash her body, soaking her head and watching the water run down past her cheek, traveling down her stomach to her feet.
There was no reason why she hadn’t moved from the scene yet, it had been an hour since she’s laid by her mother’s side, still feeling that sting in her heart for no reason. There was just something pinning her down to the one spot
She knew she had to kill the woman, there was so much risks in keeping her alive, Medusa was out for blood and will forever be on the hunt to kill Luna and Lucifer no matter what it takes
She was going to take every ounce of power she had to eliminate everyone and everything just to get her way and she wasn’t going to change for anyone. She was a two sided snake, literally. And she couldn’t be trusted with a piece of thread.
But it still stung, the woman was the most evil, venomous and sinister piece of shit to exist to her and be apart of her life but the woman held the title of being her “Mother”
Luna didn’t regret killing the woman, but it was her first. To take the life of your own mother was on set different level, no matter how toxic she might be
Well, that’s what Luna had floating around in her mind.
She was confused in the moment, she knew she did the right thing but there was still that unclarity soaring around inside her. Those soft whispers in her brain repeating over and over “You killed your own mother”
But with the soft whispers and dark thoughts came self realization. The woman was never apart of her life nor played any role in making her the person she was now.
The woman only made her life a living hell and now it was finally over.
So the guilt of killing someone should be shoved deep down and never unlocked, it should be replaced by the proud feeling in her soul.
The proud feeling of protecting her father again, protecting her friends, her sister. And protecting her fiancé from the evil and corrupted woman
So she stood tall, her chin up as the water flowed down from her face. Her sems to her side and the glowing white veins still bright, her jet black eyes glancing down at the woman’s corpse
Maybe in another universe, she actually knew her mother. Maybe she was there everyday, giving her that warm mother’s hug and toast in the morning. Maybe, just maybe, they would have been happy.
Luna’s wings fluttered but the girl hissed in pain, glacing over her shoulder to see a twinge in her wingbone
Blood stained the white feathers but not gushing. It was a minor bore to the slit of her back, but what Luna hadn’t saw was her own body as yet
The pouring rain had washed away most of the blood but her skin was tore open on many areas of her body, oozing the white blood she had within her veins when they glowed.
She hissed again when the pain came from the side of her stomach, her eyes glanced down to see a split to her abdomen, spill not as gushing but still serious enough to be patched
Her feet felt heavy, trembling from the cold and the fact that they were weak.
It had been so long since Luna’s had a fight that she forgot her body would shut down after an intense battle
So she clutched her stomach and took one step, feeling a deep pain shoot through her leg. But she took another step, knowing she needed to find the girl she loved
She had left Cytheria in her room, clueless as to what was going on. In all honesty, she couldn’t find the will to tell her the truth.
Luna knew Medusa’s husband was there, She knew Mark as a healer. The type of Angel to reverse a small, a trance, the power of any supernatural being. So she knew when Mark was nowhere in sight, it was only a matter of time before he had revered the spell she used on her mother. Which only meant one thing.
War was going down in hell
And she knew Cytheria couldn’t be anywhere near that, but how could she face the girl and explain that she was heading into the belly of the beast to finish a fight that had been going on for thousands of years.
Cytheria was stubborn, that she knew. The girl would never give up without a fight, especially if it meant she was going to lose Luna.
They promised each other forever, they promised eternity. A house with a red room and a garage full of cars they’d never use. They promised each other their life, so there was no way Cytheria was going to stand there useless and watch as Luna went into a battle which could cost them their future together
That’s why she sent Nathan to keep her safe and headed into battle, never looking back. She needed to protect them, it’s what’s she’s good at.
Keeping her friends in a circle and having them safe. They had jobs laid out for them for fuck sakes. A TV show contract starting next week, Nathan was starting out her career as a teacher and Ryan was starting to become a lawyer, Leo was ready to start his company.
The glue holding them all together was Luna Amon.
So she did what she had to, she protected the ones she loved again. And she will continue doing so even if it costs her, her life.
But she could only wish she had someone to protect her.
As Luna continued to take small steps, still bleeding out. Her eyes closed as she allowed the feeling of the aggressive rain to dash onto her skin. She knew to herself that she couldn’t make it back to the castle at that pace, especially with pain piercing through every inch of her body. But she surely wasn’t going to stop fighting until she did.
“LUNA” a voice screamed, Luna’s eyes flung open once again as she saw a figure running towards her
Their feet moved at a fast pace, but someone was trailing behind them. Luna furrowed her brows and blinked rapidly, trying to make out the person
“LUNA” the person yelled again
Luna was white as chalk. Her eyes and her mouth were frozen wide open in an expression of stunned surprise. Her heart leaped at the blonde girl that was running towards her.
She grins back and she could feel the excitement radiating out from her stronger than a hundred watt bulb. She even noticed Nathan was chasing after the blonde girl, looking exhausted to be running around with her. It was obvious that Cytheria had made the girl’s life a living hell for the past few hours but that’s why she loved the girl, her stubbornness could only mean that she cared.
So just for a second -with all of the pain she felt and the blood that wrapped around her entire body, oozing through battle wounds and fresh scars- just for a second, she could allow the world around to fall flat as the love of her life came chasing after her.
Because in that second, Luna finally realized something. She protected her friends.
But Cytheria Jones protected her.
