Chapter 26

Kurl chuckled as he let his teeth graze Sarah’s cheek. “I think your friend is looking for you.””Hmm?” Sarah murmured. Her brain felt like it was lying in a hammock of bliss. And she didn’t want it to end. Kurl kissed her forehead, and gently turned her face upwards.Erin stared down at her with a look of absolute shock. Her eyes threatened to pop right out of her head. “Um, Sarah. What are you doing?” Sarah wrapped her arms around Kurl’s massive shoulders, pulling his head down against her chest. “What does it look like?” she said with a giggle. Erin’s face was unreadable. Then she spoke. “Do you want to be in there? Or were you coerced into it?” She turned her angry, blazing gaze to Kurl. Kurl gave Erin a winning smile. “Still room in here for one more. Interested? I do love org–“”OH EM GEE, don’t even say that word,” Erin hissed at him. Kurl shrugged and started to nibble on Sarah’s ear again. Sarah tilted her face towards Kurl’s. “Do you know how much that tickles?” she teased. Her words only encouraged him to softly bite down on her ear. “Oww!” Sarah said, cracking up. She gave his shoulder a playful swat. Just then, her eyes met Bent’s. Holy ffffff! How long had he been standing there????? She tried to focus on him. But it was hard when she was seeing three of his gorgeous faces, instead of only one.”Let’s go, Sarah,” Bent said firmly. He crossed his arms over his chest. He looked really, really, really, REALLY good in a tux. Sarah pointed her index finger at a Bent she hoped was real. “You caaaan’t telllllll meeeee what to doooo.”But she must have pointed to the wrong Bent. Because his face instantly morphed from quietly sullen, to all-out rage. “Sh*t’s sake! She’s F-ing TRASHED!” Bent growled to Erin. He reached his hand out for Sarah’s. “Get out of the hot tub, NOW!” Sarah bit her bottom lip. She closed her eyes and opened them slowly. She glared at Bent. “Make me,” she snickered. She pulled Kurl up against her and kissed him on the lips. Without warning, Sarah felt strong arms encircle her waist from behind. A split second later, she was hauled out of the hot tub. “OMGosh!” Sarah shrieked. Bent flung her up into his arms. He cradled her cold, shaking body tightly against his hard chest. “You should leave, Kurl,” Bent spat. His eyes practically shot sparks of fire. “Whoa, whoa, WHOA!” Kurl said, holding up his hands. “I was being a perfect gentleman. Now this behavior is a bit uncalled for. Don’t you think, Prince?” Bent said something Sarah couldn’t hear. She started to shake uncontrollably in the strong wind. She pushed her face up against his neck for warmth. She hadn’t realized how good he smelled. It was a mix of exotic mountain spice and musky cinnamon. Sarah tried in her languid state to memorize his scent. “What’s going on?” someone asked, near Bent. It sounded like Trevor. “Kurl’s just leaving,” Bent snarled. Trevor whistled. “Yo, Kurl. You better watch your back. You’re in a bad place now, man.” He clapped his hands, laughing.Sarah heard Kurl splash out of the water. “What the hell, Prince? You’re acting like a friggin’ little b*tch. What’s with you? Sarah and I were only messing around. Nothing serious.” Bent ignored Kurl. Sarah could feel his anger practically pulsing out of him. His breath came out in ragged gasps as if he was trying as hard as possible to remain calm. He turned his attention to Trevor and Erin. “You both should get on home. I’ll see that she’s taken care of.” Sarah heard Erin suck in her breath. “That’s super duper kind of you, Bent.” Sarah could practically hear Erin’s pleasure at being able to address him directly to his face. “But, really. Sarah’s my best friend. I’m perfectly capable of driv–“”–I’ve got her!” Bent snapped. He softened his tone. “Please…it’s fine.”Erin sighed. Then she went over and gave Sarah a peck on the head. “See you tomorrow, girly!” she said. And then Erin whispered into Sarah’s ear so Bent couldn’t hear. “You lucky little piece of sh*t!!!” Sarah laughed. She leaned back to look for Erin, but her friend had disappeared. Bent cradled Sarah carefully as he made his way towards the back of his house, away from the crowd and the music. Holding Sarah carefully with one hand, he used his other hand to reach behind a hedge. Sarah heard the click of a hidden lever. Then came the sound of many bricks sliding together. A dark opening appeared on the side of the house. Not only is the boy full of hidden surprises. So is his house!
