OH MY GAWD, Sarah thought in alarm. It was Bent. Mr. Perfect was home! She turned quickly around. “Um…I…I need to go. Right now,” she sputtered. She tried to rush past the androids, but Erna and Jay seemed to block her way. “What’s the hurry?” Jay asked. “We should let Mr. Prince know he has a guest.” Sarah attempted to step around the androids again. “No, no, it’s quite all right. I’ve stayed longer than I already planned to. You both have been very kind to me. And I have to be somewhere.” Of course she didn’t have to be anywhere. It was only mid-day. And she didn’t have any plans. “Please stay. We insist,” Jay said. He took her arm in his silver one and guided her outside to the pool area. Sarah, heart racing, tried to pull away from him. “No, really. I shouldn’t be here. Please…” But it was no use. Jay was strong. And apparently he was also programmed to be stubborn. Sarah reluctantly allowed Jay, followed closely by Erna, to pull her helplessly out of the safety of the house. Sunlight blinded her. The warm sun beat down on her face and shoulders. When Jay finally released her, she put her hand to her forehead to shield her eyes. Bent was swimming laps in the pool. His long, elegant strokes broke the water easily as if he’d swum laps like this on a daily basis. “Mr. Prince. You have a visitor,” Jay called loudly. Sarah closed her eyes, feeling unbelievably awkward. She peeked one eye open at Bent in the water. He’d stopped swimming. His arms rested on the far side of the pool ledge. He seemed to be trying to see who she was in the bright sunlight. But then he recognized her. “Sarah!” He suddenly looked uneasy. Like really, REALLY uneasy. But then, his face relaxed into a massive, disgustingly attractive grin. Sarah tried not to think about the shooting stars and explosions of tiny rainbows shooting out of his smile. She gave him a feeble wave. “Hi…um…sorry to intrude. I was…I was…” Why did he have to look so incredibly good in the water? His chest and shoulders were practically GLOWING in the sunshine. If she didn’t know better, she would have expected him to be made out of gold. Sarah blinked rapidly, trying not to focus on Bent’s glistening, wet skin. “I was just stopping by…to…to say ‘hi.’” Oh my gawd that sounded lame!!!!!!!! And oh my gawd can he see right through me that I’m a mess right now? And clearly must think I’m a stalker?????Bent suddenly did that horribly sexy stretch again. He gripped his hands and pulled them high above his head. He groaned loudly. Okay, he was totally showing off there, right? RIGHT? Nobody groans like that out loud and in front of other people?????? Sarah gulped, feeling her cheeks flame. She tried to spin around, wanting to run away. But the two androids stood to her left and right, blocking her escape. “Well, I’m glad you’re here,” Bent called. He still wore his amazing grin. Rubbing a hand through his wet hair, he cleared his throat. “Look, uh, I’d invite you in. The water is great. But you see, I’m not exactly wearing much right now.” Sarah’s eyebrows shot to her hairline. “Oh, um…oh my gawd.” She stepped back, colliding with Jay’s solid frame. Bent laughed, slapping his hand on the water. He made a gesture to the androids behind Sarah. Immediately, she felt Jay move away from her. He reappeared seconds later, carrying a towel. Sarah saw he also had the black sweatshirt and sweatpants she had dropped off. The android stood above Bent, by the pool ledge. “You’re welcome to watch me dry off, Sarah,” Bent said, snickering. He began to pull himself out of the water. With a small shriek of humiliation, Sarah whirled around, covering her face with her hands.
