After Party???Sarah checked her watch. “But it’s already so late?” Erin laughed. “Apparently these people stay up all night long after a concert. Especially in Miami.” Erin held out several slices of pizza on a paper plate.Sarah reluctantly took the paper plate and forced herself to eat the pizza. She knew she’d need it if she was going to spend several more hours on her already sore feet.”Where’s Bent?” Sarah asked, her mouth full of pizza.Erin looked around. “You know? That’s a good question. He’s forever a mystery.” Chad was taking a group picture when Patty stuck her head back through the door. “All right, kids. Jack’s here.” The group followed the band out of the building and out into the huge parking lot. “Got you all some signed souvenirs,” Jack said. “Left them with my staff. They’ll make sure it gets back to your hotel.” “AWESOME!” the three boys yelled. Sarah had learned that a concert this size required almost thirty different trucks to ship all the equipment and gear needed to put on these incredible shows. Several charter buses were parked together. They followed Jack onto a huge dark blue bus that was just for him. It was really cold inside. There were two long couches against each wall behind the driver. A television blinked above a small table. A fridge was in the back corner. “So this is where I live while we’re on the road,” Jack explained. “I’ve got a whole bunch of reading material like books, newspapers, and such. But mostly, I like to keep a journal so I can jot down notes from the day. Plus, I like to write songs.” He displayed his guitar and stacks of papers in the corner. “And in the very back,” Jack said. “This is where I sleep.” “Wow!” Chad said. “It’s like a small airplane back here.” Dan poked his head into the bathroom. “Sure is NICER than the average airplane bathroom,” he said. “Hey look, there’s even a shower back here!” “And three sinks! Plus a full washer and dryer!” Chad said. “Jack, this bed looks BIGGER than the last bed you had,” Trevor said, laughing. They stood in the farthest bedroom at the back of the tour bus. There was, indeed, a very large black bed. A television and computer were attached to the wall across from it. On the vanity table were more piles of music and various magazines. It was pretty messy.Trevor and Chad dropped down onto the bed. “Totally more comfortable than it looks,” Chad said, laughing. Jack clapped his hands. “Yeah, it’s sort of bumpy now and then, but I’ve gotten used to sleeping while on the road. It’s really not so bad.””So where’s this after party at?” Erin asked. She flung her arm around Trevor’s shoulders. Sarah had never seen her look so proud of Trevor. Jack thought a moment. “You know, I think it’s being held at a club called The Deep End.””We should have brought our snorkel gear!” Trevor said. Dan and Chad laughed.Jack’s phone rang. He quickly answered it. “Great. We’ll see you out there.” He hung up. “My ride’s here.” They followed Jack off the tour bus.A black SUV pulled to a stop in front of them. “This is me. I’ll see you all at the club,” Jack called. He and his band mates climbed into the SUV. The car pulled away. “Where do you think Bent parked the Jeep?” Chad asked. He adjusted the feather of his pirate hat. “Looks like he left it over there,” Dan said. Sure enough, the Jeep was parked near one of the large semi trucks. “Let me guess, no one has the keys, right?” Trevor asked. No one answered. “We better go find Bent,” Erin said, flipping the red cape over her shoulder.
