I stared horrified at the small screen in front of me. A video-call showed my poor innocent child, chained, a knife pressed against the side of his neck. He looked almost lifeless, with his head hanging low. When the guy standing behind him, known as the bastard from now on, made him raise his head and face the camera, his eyes shot wide open.
“Do not come,” he said. His voice was raspy as if he had not drunk water in a long time.
I was ready to jump on the guy in front of me. The bastard punched my baby in the stomach and I cringed. Larentia was fighting for control. She recognizes Aiden’s wolf as her pup.
The coward in front of me clicked his tongue. “Do anything to me and your weak pup will die.”
My pup is not weak! The sound of coughing coming from the phone caught my attention. Aiden was spitting blood. He looked in so much pain. I dug my nails into my palms and held my tears back. I had to stifle a sob.
My son looked at the camera again. “Don’t-” The guy punched him in the jaw. “Don’t come. Run away!” Aiden yelled. The guy began kicking him. Aiden was not reacting to the pain. He did not even grunt. Just like we were trained.
I covered my mouth with both of my hands and sniffled. “Stop this. I will go.” Before I could say anything else, the sensation of being stung on my neck made me grimace and hiss in pain. The liquid burned my veins and I felt my knees buckle but I managed to keep my balance. My wolf’s growls faded away and my body felt heavier. My eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell worsened.
Aiden looked at the camera again and began yelling. “Mom, no-”
The coward turned the sound off and laughed. He was holding an empty syringe in one hand.
I narrowed my eyes at him. My hands were covering the neck.”What did you do to me!”
He grinned and spoke cynically. “Just a little-diluted wolfsbane to make sure you do not pull any stunt on us. Don’t worry, you will get your wolf back, but you are just like a weak little human at the moment.”
The tone he was using with me pissed me off. It was as if he was enjoying this, getting off on feeling above others. He needs to be put in place. I glanced at the phone in his hand. It still showed a chained Aiden, but the beating had stopped. The sound was still off.
“Put the sound back on, please,” I said in a severe tone but unable to use my Alpha voice.
The coward hesitated but put the sound back on. If Alexander is there, he will have some patience with me. “Xander. I am going to your pack. I just need to do this. Please, if you love me, do not hurt my pup now,” I said loudly.
A soft “Mmm hmm,” was heard at the other side of the line. So he was actually there. Fucking trashy wimp.
A satisfying crack made my insides stir with joy. I punched the coward on the nose. He kept the grip on the phone in his hand as if it was made for pure gold. I twisted his other arm and made him crouch to knee him in the stomach.
I kept beating him until Alexander talked. “That is enough, love,” he said. His voice was soft but commanding. The nerve of this asshole.
“He was mistreating me,” I said.
“Nobody but me should put a hand on you.” Alexander’s voice was cold and sharp. The coward flinched and I could tell some not very nice things were in for him. He stood up somehow and told me to get my phone, wallet and car keys. He kept an eye on me while I did it and put silver handcuffs around my wrists once I was done. The only thing remaining of being a werewolf was the almost unbearable burning sensation of the silver on my skin.
“Just so you know, the call is still connected. If I die, he dies,” the coward whispered. I could not take anything he said seriously with that broken nose and bloody face of his.
A black car pulled up and two guys got out of it. The first one will be called bitch and the other one disgusting trash. Bitch took the my keys and locked my apartment’s door. He and the coward got into my car. They better return it without any scratch. Disgusting trash, who had gotten the phone from coward, escorted me to the black car. It was funny to see the care they put on that phone. It was as if it held the key to their survival, which was true. They would all be dead otherwise.
In the car, there were two other men, the driver and one guy, who seemed to be more muscle than the person in the back seat. Those two will be trash one and trash two.
I was seated between trash one and disgusting trash. The whole ride was silent, besides the jokes from the trash around me. The coward seems to be the third in command and nobody really likes him. They actually congratulated me for punching him and apologized for what their Alpha was doing.
I kept my gaze on the road ahead and checked for landmarks. I will need to memorize this path for any of them when I come back with my son and hopefully Alexander’s head. All in all, they were nice trash, but trash nonetheless.
We got to a large house, which I assume is the Alpha’s house, as no other pack member was in sight. Alexander was outside waiting for us.
Disgusting trash opened the door and got out the car. He held it open, but Alexander got in before I could take a step out of the car.
“Love. What have they done to you?” he said as he removed the handcuffs from my wrists with his bare hands. He winced, and finally broke them, but the painful feeling still remained. He lowered his head and licked my wounds, something an Alpha only does for his Luna.
A powerful Alpha was in a position of submission for me. No, I did not swoon over this. I am not the stupid protagonist every one hates in cliche romance stories. I felt utterly disgusted by his actions. He was trying to win me over while having my child captive, knowing that I have a mate I love more than life himself. Or maybe he does not know. Let’s check.
“Alexander, I already have a mate whom I love more than life itself,” I said.
He stopped licking and his body tensed up. The two remaining trash left the car as if it was on fire. Wait for me! I want to leave as well. Alexander looked up at me; His face contorted in da eep scowl and his eyes were golden. His hand snaked around my neck and he put pressure on my throat.
“I dare you to say that again.” He growled, his eyes narrowed in slits.
Fucking idiot. I cannot talk if you choke me. I did not even move. I just stared defiantly into his eyes. He seemed frustrated as he kept applying more and more pressure, but I did not even blink.
Alexander growled and let go of my neck. Good, because it would have snapped with just a little bit more pressure. My skin throbbed and I could tell that bruises were forming already. He looked at my fresh injuries and his eyes filled with tears. The fuck?
“I am so sorry, love. I did not want to hurt you. You made me so mad that I could not hold myself back.” He kissed my neck and brushed my hair with his fingers. I stood frozen in place, my eyes probably wide as saucers. I should proceed with caution. This guy is officially mental. Now that I am already here he could just get rid of Aiden and lock me up.
“Xander…” I said.
He smiled broadly when he heard his nickname and looked at me with an affable expression. “Yes, love?”
“Are you planning to hurt or kill my son?” I asked with the softest voice I could muster.
He laughed out loud, which made me even more uneasy. “I could never do that to you sweetheart. What kind of monster do you think I am?” He patted me on the head and grinned. “He will be fine as long as you obey me.”
His cheerful voice contrasted so much with his words that I almost flinched. However, I could only show him the emotions I wanted him to see. I am not some hysterical mother crying for mercy for herself and her child. I am Beta Jolene Amores on a mission to save future Beta Aiden Wolf.
I closed my eyes and sighed. When I opened them, I was into character. I do not have my wolf, but that is just a small hiccup. This is no different to all the times I had to deal with rogues.
I ran my hands through his hair, looking into his eyes and biting my tongue to force myself to keep a kind facial expression. “You do not need to force me to be your Luna, you know that, right?”
He cupped my cheeks. “I would never force you to be my Luna. I just want a fair chance. I had been trying to reach to you like crazy but you never answered. I changed. I stopped sleeping around; I accepted your son’s request; and I am being patient for you. But, what difference does it make if you do not even want to hear about me? I just need to show you that I can be good to you. I need you.”
His voice sounded almost truthful. Maybe someone else in my position would believe him and feel sorry for him. I do not believe he needs me; he needs lots of therapy, maybe shock therapy or trephination.
We both pulled away. Oh, how did I miss the feeling of not having him touching my skin. “I will give you a fair chance.” I lied. “What request my son made to you?”
“Oh, a couple of months ago he had asked me to read the Alpha’s record books.” He got out of the car and pulled his hand out for me to take.
I took his hand and he let me inside of his house.
The Alpha’s record books supposedly were documentation of information provided by different packs about every major incident in the werewolf world. They were written and kept by a now extincted pack. Of course, Alexander’s father, Alpha James Hunter, the power hungry monster, had invaded that pack and taken its lands.
“I thought the existence of those books was a myth,” I said as we walked up the staircase holding hands. This whole situation made me sick.
“The rumors are all true,” he said. “You will be staying in this room with me. I will give you privacy now. Put on the clothes I left on the bed for you.” He kissed my lips before walking away and closing the door behind him.
I walked around the room. His smell was everywhere. I could even feel it without my werewolf sense of smell. No doubt this is his room. I inspected the fancy party dress he had left for me. It looked expensive but reeked of Alexander. I did not know he cross-dressed.
I threw it on the bed and looked around hoping to find something I could use to beat the shit out of Alexander in his sleep. However, I could not find anything; Tears were clouding my vision as they freely streamed down my cheeks. I sat on the bed and let my frustration pour from my eyes and nose. I should be getting ready for Lancelot’s party, not for whatever Alexander has in mind. My little Alpha is going to be so sad and disappointed.
A soft knock on the door startled me. I quickly wiped off my tears with the back of my hands and sniffled. A pale girl with wild curly black hair walked in. She is beautiful. I will go soft on her, so call-girl will be her name.
“I was sent to keep you company while you get ready,” she said.
I arched an eyebrow. If it was to make me company, he would have sent an omega, but I know a warrior when I see one. I chuckled and took my top off. “Girls usually buy me a drink before watching me undress, but I guess today is a special day.”
The girl averted her gaze and shifted her weight on her feet. She looked so uncomfortable. Maybe she is not a powerful warrior as I thought. A true soldier would not have reacted to a simple teasing comment.
“I will not look while you change,” she said turning around.
“Good.” I rolled my eyes. To be honest, I did not care if she watched or no. I just wanted to check how strong she is.
